Job summary

Merck KGaA, Darmstadt, Germany, is seeking an experienced General Ledger professional for its Manila Shared Service Center. You will own the Month-End Close (MEC) for complex entities, prepare and analyze financial statements, and partner with local entity finance teams to drive accuracy and timeliness.

The role requires IFRS/GAAP knowledge, SAP/Oracle experience, and a proactive approach to process automation. Fluent English, expert Excel, and flexibility for night shifts are essential.

Qualifications

• Bachelors in finance or accounting is required.
• Master’s or CPA preferred for advanced accounting oversight.
• 8+ years of experience in General Ledger accounting operations.
• Profound IFRS/GAAP and tax knowledge.
• Experience in a Shared Services Center is preferred.
• Experience with Oracle and SAP systems.
• Fluent English language skills required.

Responsibilities

• Lead Month-End Close (MEC) for complex entities with tight deadlines.
• Prepare, review, and analyze high-quality financial statements and reports.
• Perform deep-dive analysis, variance commentary, and balance sheet reviews.
• Manage high-complexity GL activities, including accruals and payroll.
• Oversee reconciliations of high-risk accounts and approve fixes.
• Gatekeeper for GL master data integrity and standards compliance.
• Coordinate with auditors and ensure SOX/ICFR adherence.
• Drive process optimization and support ERP upgrades and UAT.
