Job summary

Manila Water Company, Inc. is seeking a Senior Civil Engineer to plan, develop, and review designs for water and wastewater projects in Metro Manila. The role focuses on delivering compliant, cost-efficient designs on time, coordinating across disciplines, and supporting bid and construction phases.

You will review shop drawings, perform option analyses, and ensure alignment with standards and project requirements throughout FS, detailed design, and construction stages.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering with PRC license.
• At least seven years of structural engineering experience in water/wastewater facilities.
• Experience in design reviews, bid documents, and cost estimates.
• Proficiency in AutoCAD, STAAD, Mathcad, and related engineering software.

Responsibilities

• Conducts site inspections to validate conditions prior to design development.
• Prepares calculations, drawings, and optioning for Type A–E projects.
• Prepares quantity take-off for budget approval and cost estimates.
• Prepares bidding documents for procurement stages.
• Evaluates contractor proposals to ensure compliance with project requirements.
• Reviews contractor drawings and calculations for FS, detailed design, or construction phases.
• Develops optioneering and ballpark estimates for concept approvals.
• Monitors project design progress and escalates issues to ensure timely delivery.
• Integrates multidisciplinary designs to ensure output quality.

Job description

Role Purpose

Plans, develops and reviews engineering designs on type A to E capex projects to ensure delivery of design works within within time, cost-efficient and quality, compliance to applicable standards and other requirements.

Responsibilities

• Conducts site inspection by on-site field works to validate actual site condition for every project prior to design development

• Prepares calculations, and drawings and optioneering (Type A to E) by using applicable engineering tools to ensure the most efficient design compliant to applicable standards and specification on every project prior to preparation of Bill of quantities.

• Prepares quantity take-off by using applicable engineering tools as the basis of detailed cost estimates required for the budget approval of the project.

• Prepares other bidding documents by using applicable engineering tools as a requirement during approval and procurement stage of the project

• Evaluates technical proposals by the contractor during bidding by preparing technical evaluation report to ensure technical proposal of the bidders compliant to project requirements.

• Reviews and comments on the engineering design plans, shop drawings, calculations prepared by the contractor to ensure compliant to project requirements and applicable standards during FS, detailed design or construction phase.

• Develop optioneering and ballpark estimates and concept design using applicable engineering tools to be used by other group for concept approval prior to design development.

• Manages development of the assigned projects by regularly monitor the status, ensure design project requirements are met, escalates issues that may arise and provides updates to headline/department heads to ensure timely delivery design.

• Integrates design across various discipline by reviewing/ integrating the design works prepared by each designer to ensure completeness/ quality of design output all throughout the design development.

Requirements

• Candidate must possess at least a Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering and hold a valid Professional License (PRC Licensed Civil Engineer). Experience in both Structural Engineering and Water/Wastewater Network Engineering is highly preferred.

• Required skills: AutoCAD, STAAD, Mathcad, and engineering design software related to water and wastewater infrastructure.

• Must have at least seven (7) years of relevant experience in structural engineering design and support services, with demonstrated experience in water and wastewater structures such as reservoirs, tanks, lift station, pumping stations, and slope protection structure.

• Experience in water, wastewater, and network infrastructure projects is an advantage.
