Job summary

RED is seeking a Senior BIM Technician – MEP to lead modeling, coordination, and documentation for complex projects. You will mentor staff, drive BIM standards, and push automation and digital twins initiatives.

The role requires advanced Revit MEP skills, strong MEP system knowledge, and experience leading teams through design and tender phases. Hybrid work arrangement and strong professional development support are offered.

Qualifications

• Diploma or Bachelor's degree in Drafting, Engineering, Architecture, or related field.
• 5–8+ years in BIM modeling/coordination, 4+ years in leadership role.
• Advanced proficiency in Revit MEP, AutoCAD, Navisworks, BIM 360/Autodesk Construction Cloud.
• Strong MEP knowledge and interdisciplinary coordination.

Responsibilities

• Lead development of detailed 3D BIM models for MEP systems using Revit MEP.
• Produce and oversee coordinated 2D documentation: layouts, schematics, sections.
• Lead BIM coordination meetings; manage clash detection with Navisworks.
• Mentor junior staff; review deliverables for quality and consistency.
• Support BEPs, workflows, and BIM content libraries; push digital innovation.

Job description

Highly experienced and technically proficient Senior BIM Technician – MEP to lead the modeling, coordination, and documentation of mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems across complex building and infrastructure projects. This role requires advanced BIM expertise, a deep understanding of MEP systems, and the ability to mentor junior staff, drive innovation, and ensure high-quality digital delivery.

Key Responsibilities:

Advanced BIM Modeling & Documentation

• Lead the development of detailed and accurate 3D BIM models for MEP systems using Revit MEP and other BIM tools.
• Produce and oversee the creation of coordinated 2D documentation including layouts, schematics, sections, and details.
• Ensure all models and drawings meet project-specific LOD requirements and comply with BIM standards and protocols.

Project Leadership & Coordination

• Act as the primary technical lead for MEP BIM coordination on assigned projects.
• Facilitate and lead coordination meetings with internal teams and external consultants.
• Manage clash detection processes using Navisworks or similar tools, and ensure timely resolution of issues.

Quality Assurance & Compliance

• Conduct in-depth model audits and quality control reviews to ensure accuracy, consistency, and compliance with project and industry standards.
• Maintain drawing registers, revision logs, and ensure proper documentation of all changes.
• Support the implementation and enforcement of BIM Execution Plans (BEPs) and project-specific workflows.

Mentorship & Team Development

• Mentor and guide junior and intermediate BIM technicians, providing training and technical support.
• Review and approve BIM deliverables prepared by junior staff, ensuring quality and consistency.
• Promote a culture of continuous learning and improvement within the BIM team.

Innovation & Digital Integration

• Explore and implement automation tools (e.g., Dynamo, Python scripts) to enhance modeling efficiency and reduce manual tasks.
• Support integration of BIM with 4D (scheduling), 5D (cost estimation), and 6D (facilities management) processes.
• Contribute to the development of digital twins, smart building systems, and sustainability-focused BIM applications.

Client & Stakeholder Engagement

• Collaborate with clients, consultants, and contractors to align BIM deliverables with project goals and expectations.
• Participate in client presentations, workshops, and design reviews to demonstrate BIM capabilities and progress.
• Provide technical input and support during tendering, construction, and handover phases.

Content & Standards Development

• Develop and maintain BIM content libraries, templates, and parametric families for MEP systems.
• Contribute to the evolution of company BIM standards and best practices.
• Assist in the evaluation and implementation of new BIM tools and technologies.

Qualifications:

• Diploma or Bachelor's degree in Drafting, Engineering Technology, Architecture, or a related field.
• 5–8+ years of experience in BIM modeling and coordination with at least 4 years in a leadership capacity, with a strong focus on MEP systems.
• Advanced proficiency in Revit MEP, AutoCAD, Navisworks, and BIM 360 (or Autodesk Construction Cloud).
• Strong understanding of MEP systems, construction sequencing, and interdisciplinary coordination.
• Excellent organizational, communication, and leadership skills.

Preferred Skills:

• Experience with Dynamo, Python scripting, or other automation tools.
• Knowledge of local and international MEP codes and regulations.
• Experience working on large-scale commercial, healthcare, or infrastructure projects.
• Exposure to digital twin, smart building, or sustainability-focused BIM applications.
