Job summary

RED seeks a Mechanical Engineer to join the Manila office. You will plan and coordinate engineering projects, perform HVAC calculations, size equipment and plant rooms, and mentor junior staff.

The role requires strong fundamentals in mechanical engineering, CAD literacy, and a global consultancy mindset. Ideal candidates have strong technical report writing, HSE knowledge, and experience with international standards.

Qualifications

• Bachelor, MSc/MEng or PhD in appropriate engineering discipline.
• Ability to research.

• Good understanding of mechanical/electrical engineering from first principles.

• Sound knowledge of Health & Safety issues and legislation.

• Good understanding of BS EN standards / UK Regulations / Codes / UTI / UKGBC.
• Good understanding of the world climate emergency.
• Understanding of or willingness to develop modeling capabilities for system reliability.
• Background in consulting or construction preferred.
• Good understanding of international working and business operations of a global consultancy.
• Act in an ethical manner and follow the ethics guidelines.

Responsibilities

• Plan and coordinate engineering project work and design activities to meet deadlines.

• Coach and mentor junior staff.
• Perform HVAC calculations including cooling/heating loads and ventilation.
• Carry out area take-offs and space/volume analysis.
• Develop room-by-room HVAC performance criteria.
• Size plant rooms and route mechanical services.
• Perform duct and pipe sizing and pressure drop calculations.
• Size and select equipment.
• QA of 2D/3D drawings and design reviews.

We now seek a Mechanical Engineer to be based in our Manila office.

Role Responsibilities:

• Responsible for planning and coordinating engineering project work and design activities to ensure that project goals/objectives are accomplished within agreed deadline.
• Assists with mechanical technical design reviews.
• Reviews project proposals or plans to input into time frame, procedures for accomplishing project, resource requirements and allotment of available resources to various phases of project.
• Coach and mentor junior staff to become the next generation of engineers and leaders.
• Perform HVAC calculations but not limited to Cooling and Heating Load and Mechanical Ventilation calculations. But rather step by step and detail approach as per BSRIA design framework.
• Perform Area take-off and Space and volume analysis.
• Formulate and production of Room by Room HVAC Performance Criteria with reference to Project Design Brief and Governing Mechanical standard/code.
• Production and analysis of Mechanical services routes and Plant Room sizing with respect to Conceptual design stage.
• Perform duct and pipe sizing calculation, pressure drop calculation, system water content calculation.
• Perform Equipment sizing and selections with respect to production of equipment schedule.
• Monitoring and QA check of 2D and 3D drawings.
• Perform design Review/Validation
• Acts in an Ethical manner and follows the principles of the Ethics Charter and Ethics in Practice Guideline.
