Job summary

RED Engineering Design in Manila is seeking a Mechanical Engineer to join our expanding international M&E consultancy. You will lead planning and design activities, perform HVAC load calculations, and support reviews across project stages to help deliver energy-efficient, low-carbon built environments.

You will mentor junior engineers, ensure adherence to relevant standards, and collaborate with global teams while growing your technical and leadership skills in a dynamic, client-focused

Qualifications

• Bachelor, MSc/MEng or PhD in appropriate engineering discipline is required.
• Ability to research and think innovatively.
• Good understanding of mechanical/electrical engineering from first principles.
• Ability to prioritize workload and meet deadlines.
• Technical report writing skills and knowledge of health & safety issues.
• Familiarity with MS Office (Word, Excel) and basic CAD tools.

Responsibilities

• Plan and coordinate engineering project work and design activities to meet deadlines.
• Assist with mechanical technical design reviews.
• Review proposals to input time frames and resource allocation.
• Coach and mentor junior staff.
• Perform HVAC calculations including cooling/heating load and ventilation per design framework.
• Carry out area take-off and space/volume analysis.
• Produce room-by-room HVAC performance criteria aligned with design brief.
• Size equipment and plant room layouts for conceptual design stage.
• Perform duct and pipe sizing, pressure drop, and water content calculations.
• Size and select equipment for schedules.
• Monitor QA of 2D/3D drawings.
• Act ethically per Ethics Charter and Guidelines.

We now seek a Mechanical Engineer to be based in our Manila office.

Role Responsibilities:

• Responsible for planning and coordinating engineering project work and design activities to ensure that project goals/objectives are accomplished within agreed deadline.


• Assists with mechanical technical design reviews.


• Reviews project proposals or plans to input into time frame, procedures for accomplishing project, resource requirements and allotment of available resources to various phases of project.


• Coach and mentor junior staff to become the next generation of engineers and leaders.


• Perform HVAC calculations but not limited to Cooling and Heating Load and Mechanical Ventilation calculations. But rather step by step and detail approach as per BSRIA design framework.


• Perform Area take-off and Space and volume analysis.


• Formulate and production of Room by Room HVAC Performance Criteria with reference to Project Design Brief and Governing Mechanical standard/code.


• Production and analysis of Mechanical services routes and Plant Room sizing with respect to Conceptual design stage.


• Perform duct and pipe sizing calculation, pressure drop calculation, system water content calculation.


• Perform Equipment sizing and selections with respect to production of equipment schedule.


• Monitoring and QA check of 2D and 3D drawings.


• Acts in an Ethical manner and follows the principles of the Ethics Charter and Ethics in Practice Guideline.

Role Requirements

You will need to possess the following professional and technical expertise:

• Bachelor, MSc/MEng or PhD in appropriate engineering discipline.


• Ability to research

• Good understanding of mechanical/electrical engineering from first principles .

• Sound knowledge of key Health & Safety issues and legislation


• Knowledge of MS Office applications word, excel, etc.


• Ability to use IT based calculation and spreadsheet software Basic working knowledge of CAD functionality


• Good understanding of BS EN standards / UK Regulations / Codes / UTI / UKGBC


• Good understanding of the world climate emergency


• Understanding of or willingness to develop modeling capabilities for system Reliability.


• Background in consulting or construction preferred.


• Good understanding of international working and business operations of a global consultancy.


• Act in an ethical manner and follow the principles of the Ethics Charter and Ethics in Practice Guidelines of the Group.
