Job summary

The Japan Research Institute, Limited (Singapore Branch) seeks to replace a resigning Legal Officer to provide continuous legal support to the Bank. The role emphasizes advising on day-to-day matters, reviewing contracts, and identifying legal risks to ensure smooth operations.

Membership in the Philippine Bar is required, with at least four years of law practice including two years in corporate matters, and experience in complex financing transactions is preferred.

Qualifications

• Member of the Philippine Bar in good standing.
• At least four years of legal experience, including at least two years in corporate work with a reputable law firm.
• Experience in complex or large financing transactions.
• Knowledge of Philippine civil and corporate laws, enforcement risk, operational risk management, and banking/financial transactions.
• Strong drafting, analytical, communication, and problem-solving abilities.

Responsibilities

• Provide legal advice on the Bank’s day-to-day and ad hoc concerns.
• Prepare and review contracts, including loan, lease, service, and treasury agreements.
• Assess legal risks and recommend appropriate risk-mitigation measures.
• Assist in the Legal Unit’s operational and administrative matters and internal reporting.
• Coordinate with internal units, regional or head office teams, and external counsel.
• Monitor and report actual or potential disputes and litigation.
• Perform other legal work assigned by the Legal Unit Head, LCD Head, or Management.
