Senior Commercial and Residential Aircon & HVAC Technician

Internal Job Title: Senior Maintenance Associate
Reports To: Operations Manager
Direct Reports: 1–2 Maintenance Assistants

Employment Type: Full-Time, Field-Based
Primary Service Area: Metro Manila

ROLE PURPOSE

HelpMeet seeks a skilled, safety-conscious, and trustworthy Senior Aircon & HVAC Technician to lead the installation, preventive maintenance, cleaning, troubleshooting, and repair of residential and commercial air-conditioning systems. As technical lead, you will supervise 1–2 Maintenance Assistants, ensure accurate diagnostics, quality workmanship, property protection, complete documentation, and compliance with company safety standards.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Team Leadership
  • Supervise, assign work, and provide technical and safety guidance to 1–2 Maintenance Assistants.

  • Conduct pre-work briefings, toolbox meetings, and site risk assessments.

  • Inspect and approve work before testing and completion.

  • Monitor safety, workmanship, productivity, punctuality, and professional conduct.

  • Correct unsafe or substandard work and report performance or training concerns.

  • Suspend work when conditions, equipment, or resources are unsafe.

Aircon & HVAC Services

Install, inspect, clean, maintain, troubleshoot, and repair:

  • Window-type units

  • Wall-mounted split-type units

  • Floor-mounted units

  • Ceiling cassette units

  • Ceiling-suspended units

  • Concealed ducted units

  • Multi-split systems

  • Commercial VRF/VRV systems

Perform standard cleaning, deep cleaning, chemical cleaning, preventive maintenance, repairs, leak detection, pressure testing, evacuation, vacuuming, refrigerant recovery/charging, piping, flaring, brazing, drainage testing, electrical testing, equipment start-up, and commissioning where applicable.

Identify root causes of equipment failures and recommend repair, monitoring, upgrading, or replacement.

VRF/VRV Systems
  • Service, clean, maintain, and troubleshoot commercial VRF/VRV systems.

  • Diagnose communication faults, sensor errors, controls, refrigerant circuits, addressing issues, and manufacturer error codes.

  • Interpret wiring diagrams, piping layouts, technical manuals, and operating data.

  • Inspect indoor/outdoor units, controllers, communication wiring, piping, drainage, and related components.

  • Escalate major compressor, control board, refrigerant circuit, or manufacturer-specific issues requiring specialist support.

Technical Diagnostics
  • Perform electrical and mechanical troubleshooting on residential single-phase and commercial three-phase systems.

  • Diagnose compressors, motors, fans, sensors, inverter boards, electrical controls, communication wiring, condensate pumps, and drainage systems.

  • Use multimeters, clamp meters, manifold gauges, vacuum gauges, temperature probes, and leak detectors.

  • Interpret operating pressures, temperatures, voltage, current, wiring diagrams, and manufacturer error codes.

  • Isolate equipment before opening electrical panels or replacing components.

  • Escalate electrical work requiring licensed professionals.

Ventilation Maintenance
  • Inspect, clean, maintain, and troubleshoot residential and light-commercial exhaust fans, rangehoods, ventilation components, motors, switches, and related electrical connections.

  • Identify airflow restrictions, grease buildup, abnormal noise, vibration, and defective components.

  • Recommend cleaning schedules, repairs, or replacement.

Safety & Work-at-Height
  • Enforce PPE, electrical isolation, and Lockout/Tagout procedures.

  • Determine appropriate access equipment, including ladders, scaffolding, platforms, and mechanical lifts.

  • Inspect access and fall-protection equipment before use.

  • Ensure scaffolding is handled only by trained or authorized personnel.

  • Use harnesses, lifelines, guardrails, anchors, and exclusion zones where required.

  • Ensure assistants working at height are properly supervised.

  • Never allow improvised platforms.

  • Suspend work whenever safe access or structural conditions are inadequate.

Property Protection & Quality Assurance
  • Inspect and document relevant pre-existing property conditions before work.

  • Use floor protection, aircon cleaning bags, protective sheets, catchment systems, drain covers, and other containment equipment.

  • Prevent water, chemicals, dust, oil, tools, and debris from damaging customer property.

  • Perform final operational testing and quality inspections.

  • Restore equipment, panels, drainage systems, walls, ceilings, and work areas to proper condition.

  • Take required before-and-after photos and immediately report damage, incidents, incomplete work, or customer concerns. Leave all work areas clean, orderly, and safe.

Customer Communication & Documentation
  • Clearly explain technical findings, repair options, recommendations, and risks to homeowners, building administrators, facilities personnel, property managers, and HelpMeet personnel.

  • Obtain approval before performing work outside the authorized scope.

  • Recommend preventive maintenance, repairs, upgrades, and equipment replacement when appropriate.

  • Complete diagnostic reports, job orders, maintenance checklists, service records, equipment histories, and photographs accurately and on time.

  • Record operating readings, equipment details, refrigerant activity, error codes, parts replaced, work completed, and recommended follow-up actions.

Auxiliary Technical Support

Perform minor work directly related to Aircon and HVAC installation and repair, including:

  • Installation, clearing, and repair of condensate drain lines and pumps.

  • Tracing and repair of HVAC power, control, sensor, and communication wiring.

  • Minor drilling, mounting, sealing, patching, carpentry, and masonry work required for brackets, piping, drainage, penetrations, and equipment installation.

Major electrical, plumbing, structural, or construction work must be referred to the appropriate qualified professional.

Tools, Materials & Logistics
  • Safeguard company-issued tools, diagnostic instruments, ladders, scaffolding components, PPE, refrigerants, chemicals, parts, and materials.

  • Inspect tools and safety equipment before and after use and report damaged, missing, unsafe, or inaccurate equipment immediately.

  • Maintain accurate tool and material inventories and prevent loss, wastage, or unauthorized use.

  • Coordinate with dispatch regarding schedules, access requirements, materials, customer updates, and job requirements.

  • Safely operate an authorized motorcycle or company service van.

  • Securely transport personnel, equipment, tools, refrigerants, chemicals, and replacement parts.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Education (Any of the Following)
  • TESDA Commercial Air-Conditioning Installation and Servicing NC III.

  • TESDA RAC Servicing—PACU/CRE NC III or equivalent.

  • Relevant vocational or technical diploma with extensive commercial Aircon experience.

  • Relevant technical degree supported by proven hands-on Aircon & HVAC competence.

A technical degree alone does not substitute for the required practical experience.

Experience
  • At least 5 years of hands-on Aircon & HVAC installation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair.

  • At least 3 years of commercial air-conditioning experience.

  • Proven experience servicing and troubleshooting VRF/VRV systems.

  • Experience leading, supervising, mentoring, or training junior technicians or assistants.

  • Experience with residential systems and commercial equipment, including floor-mounted, ceiling cassette, ceiling-suspended, concealed ducted, multi-split, and VRF/VRV systems.

  • Experience maintaining exhaust fans and rangehoods.

Applicants without verifiable VRF/VRV experience will not be considered for the senior position.

Technical & Safety Competence
  • Strong knowledge of inverter technology, refrigeration systems, drainage, piping, electrical controls, and mechanical components.

  • Ability to interpret wiring diagrams, piping diagrams, equipment specifications, manufacturer manuals, and error codes.

  • Competence in using standard Aircon & HVAC diagnostic instruments.

  • Working knowledge of electrical isolation, Lockout/Tagout, chemical safety, ladder safety, scaffolding safety, fall protection, and work-at-height procedures.

  • Ability to prepare complete and accurate technical reports.

Communication & Leadership
  • Ability to supervise 1–2 Maintenance Assistants while remaining accountable for team safety, productivity, conduct, and service quality.

  • Ability to assign work, inspect workmanship, coach team members, and correct unsafe or substandard practices.

  • Basic to good English and effective Filipino communication skills.

  • Ability to communicate professionally with homeowners, commercial clients, facilities personnel, property managers, and HelpMeet personnel.

Driving, Location & Clearances
  • Valid Philippine driver's license appropriate to the vehicle operated.

  • Ability to safely operate a motorcycle.

  • Preferably residing in Taguig, Makati, Mandaluyong, Pasig, Pateros, or nearby accessible areas.

  • Valid NBI Clearance and satisfactory employment and character references.

  • Ability to pass the required pre-employment medical examination and drug screening.

IDEAL QUALIFICATIONS (Preferred)
  • Manufacturer-specific VRF/VRV training or practical experience with Daikin, LG, Samsung, Carrier, Mitsubishi, or similar systems.

  • Experience with Packaged Air-Conditioning Units (PACU), Air Handling Units (AHU), fan-coil units, chilled-water systems, or commercial ventilation systems.

  • Experience troubleshooting residential or commercial refrigeration equipment.

  • Experience preparing repair estimates, technical scopes, bills of materials, or preventive maintenance proposals.

  • Occupational Safety and Health (OSH), First Aid, Work-at-Height, or Scaffolding Safety training.

  • Ability to operate a manual-transmission service van.

COMPENSATION & BENEFITS
Gross Monthly Compensation

₱24,000–₱30,000 per month, inclusive of basic salary and applicable fixed allowances.

Final compensation will depend on the candidate's qualifications, experience, and HelpMeet's assessment.

Overtime pay, rest-day premiums, holiday pay, night-shift differential (when applicable), and all legally required premium pay will be provided separately.

Transportation & Fleet Card

A company-provided fleet card will cover authorized fuel expenses when using an approved personal motorcycle for work-related travel, including travel from the employee's declared residence to the first assigned job site and from the final assigned location back home. The fleet card is non-convertible to cash and may not be used for personal or non-work-related travel.

Performance Bonus

Semiannual performance bonus based on individual performance, team service quality, safety compliance, customer feedback, and overall company performance.
