Job summary

EROAD in Manila is hiring a Senior Software Engineer (Java, AI-Native) to strengthen its backend team and advance AI-powered development, with AWS cloud-native experience preferred. Design, build and operate microservices, event-driven workflows and RESTful APIs; direct AI coding agents and verify outputs before shipping, guarding against AI failures.

Own production observability, contribute to CI/CD and trunk-based delivery; report to the Chapter Lead, and work four days on-site in Manila with

Qualifications

Strong Java experience building production backend systems.
Experience with AWS cloud-native architecture.
Background in microservices and event-driven systems.
Experience with RESTful APIs.
Experience with MongoDB, PostgreSQL, or SQL Server.
Experience building test automation across unit, integration and end-to-end levels.
Comfortable with CI/CD, trunk-based development and deployment pipelines.
Hands-on production experience with monitoring and observability.
Mentoring others and lifting team quality through code review.

Responsibilities

Design, build and operate complex backend services with microservices, event-driven workflows and RESTful APIs.
Direct AI coding agents on multi-step tasks and verify outputs before shipping.
Guard against AI failure modes before they reach production, including hallucinated dependencies and insecure patterns.
Own production health, driving monitoring, alerting and observability.
Lift the quality bar across the team through code review and knowledge sharing.
Take part in on-call rotation and share responsibility for production issues.
Report to the Chapter Lead and work within a trunk-based, CI/CD-driven delivery model.
