Job summary

EROAD, a global fleet management technology company, seeks a Chapter Lead for its embedded Java engineering community in Manila. You will own the technical bar and lead the engineers delivering high‑quality software in a SaaS context.

You’ll set engineering standards, coach teams, and drive AI-assisted development while collaborating with product, architecture, delivery and operations. This hybrid role supports on-site and remote work with regional growth in mind.

Qualifications

• Strong hands-on experience with Java, Spring Boot, microservices, REST APIs and cloud-native backend services.
• Experience with automated testing practices.
• Experience leading or coaching engineers through design, implementation, review and delivery.
• Experience setting or improving engineering standards across squads or a community of practice.
• Genuine hands-on experience with AI coding tools in real engineering work, including review expectations, context management and safe adoption practices.
• Ability to recognise AI-generated code failure modes before they create quality, security or operational risk.
• Experience working with product, architecture, delivery and operations stakeholders in a SaaS or product engineering environment.
• AWS experience is a plus, particularly with Java or Spring services, event-driven systems, queues and streams.

Responsibilities

• Act as the technical authority on Java and Spring Boot architecture across squads in Manila
• Lead and coach Tech Leads and engineers through design, implementation, review and delivery
• Set and continuously improve engineering standards across a chapter or community of practice
• Drive disciplined, repeatable practices for AI-assisted engineering, including review expectations and context management
• Spot AI-generated code failure modes early and put guardrails in place before they become quality, security or operational risk
• Work closely with product, architecture, delivery and operations stakeholders as part of a SaaS engineering environment
• Take part in an on-call rotation, compensated per company policy
