EROAD, a Kiwi tech company with Manila engineering presence, is seeking a Senior Software Engineer (Java, AI-Native) to strengthen backend capabilities and lead AI-driven development. You will own complex production systems, guide AI agents, and improve observability while collaborating in a high-growth, globally distributed team.

The role requires strong Java backend experience, microservices, and AI-native practices, with on-site Manila work Monday to Thursday and remote Fridays.

Qualifications

• Strong Java experience building and running complex production backend systems.
• Solid grounding in microservices, event-driven architecture and RESTful APIs.
• Fluency in MongoDB, PostgreSQL or SQL Server with cross-model reasoning.
• Experience building test automation across unit, component, integration and end-to-end levels.
• Comfortable with CI/CD, trunk-based development, Docker and deployment pipelines.
• Hands-on production experience with monitoring, alerting and observability.
• Genuine use of AI coding tools, directing agents on complex work and verifying outputs.
• Mentoring others and lifting team quality through code review and knowledge sharing.
• Comfortable working 4 days a week on-site in Manila (Mon-Thu) with WFH Friday.

Responsabilités

• Design, build and operate complex backend services with microservices and RESTful APIs.
• Direct AI coding agents on complex tasks and review outputs before shipping.
• Catch AI failure modes before production, including hallucinated dependencies and insecure patterns.
• Own production health with monitoring, alerting and observability.
• Lift team quality through code review and knowledge sharing, including AI-native practices.
• Take part in on-call rotation and contribute to production issue resolution.
• Report to the Chapter Lead and work within a trunk-based, CI/CD-driven delivery model.
