Job summary

OSM Thome seeks 2nd Cook / Assistant Cook for a passenger ferry operating in Europe. You will support the Chief Cook in preparing safe, tasty meals for crew and passengers, keep the galley clean and organized, and assist in daily galley routines.

The role requires prior sea-based cooking experience, STCW certificates, HACCP knowledge, and teamwork in a fast-paced ferry environment. Contractual at sea, Europe-bound deployment.

Qualifications

• Previous experience as 2nd Cook / Assistant Cook at sea, preferably on passenger or ferry vessels.
• Valid STCW certificates and medical fitness for sea service.
• Good knowledge of galley safety, food hygiene and HACCP
• Ability to work in a small team and follow instructions
• Basic English communication skills
• Willingness to work in a fast-paced passenger vessel environment

Responsibilities

• Assist in preparing and cooking daily meals for crew and passengers
• Follow menus, portion control and food safety standards
• Carry out basic baking, salad and dessert preparation as required
• Support in receiving, checking and proper storage of provisions
• Maintain cleanliness and hygiene in galley, stores and equipment
• Sort and dispose of galley garbage according to vessel procedures
• Assist the Chief Cook with stock control and daily galley routines
