Qualifications

• Graduate of any 4 or 5-year course
• Computer literacy (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
• 2+ years' relative experience in a food industry
• Proficient in first aid and emergency response
• Knowledge of OSH standards
• Knowledge of corporate environmental, safety and health policy and preventive maintenance
• Strong written and verbal communication
• Strong leadership and interpersonal skills

Responsibilities

• Assist, advise or guide in risk assessment and development of health and safety programs
• Monthly appraisal of safety programs and performance
• Attend scheduled safety inspections and safety committee meetings; plan accident prevention programs
• Direct accident prevention efforts in line with safety programs and government regulations
• Conduct safety meetings at least monthly
• Review inspection and accident reports and implement improvements
• Submit mandatory OSH reports to DOLE
• Provide assistance to government inspectors as needed
• Initiate and supervise employee safety trainings
• Help develop disaster contingency plans and organize emergency services
• Establish written safety policies and ensure enforcement
• Report to authorities on safety policies and health programs
• Advise employer and workers on health and safety matters
• Coordinate health and safety training for employees
• Maintain accident records and coordinate corrective actions

Job Description:

ASAFETY OFFICERis responsible for ensuring the safety and security of the company and its employees. A safety officer identifies, investigates, and controls safety hazards, conducts risk assessments, and enforces preventative measures. A safety officer also supports the development of OHS policies and programs, advises and instructs on safety-related topics, and provides information to the appropriate function.

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Assist, advise or guide in complying with the risk assessment and development of health and safety programs;


• Make at least a monthly appraisal of programs and safety performance of the company/establishment, including the activities of the safety committee;


• To be present during scheduled safety inspection by authorized government agents, and during regular safety committee meetings; and plans and develops accident prevention programs for the establishment.


• Directs the accident prevention efforts of the establishment in accordance with the safety programs safety performance and government regulations in order to prevent accidents from occurring in the workplace.


• Conducts safety meetings at least once a month.


• Reviews reports of inspection, accident investigations and implementation of program.


• Submits all mandatory reports periodically and regularly on OSH meetings and activities to DOLE


• Provides necessary assistance to government inspecting authorities in the proper conduct of their activities.


• Initiates and supervises training for employees.


• Help develops and maintains a disaster contingency plan and organizes such emergency service units.


• Establishes and adopts in writing administrative policies on safety in conformity.


• Reports to the enforcing authority copies of the policies adopted and the health and safety organization established to carry out the program on safety and health.


• Reports to the health and safety program of the organization outlining the activities undertaken including its safety performance, health and safety.


• Acts in an advisory capacity on all matters pertaining to health and safety for the guidance of the employer and the workers.


• Conducts investigation of accidents as member of the Health and Safety Committee and submits his separate report and analysis of accidents.


• Coordinates all health and safety training programs for the employees and employer.


• Conducts health and safety inspection as member of the committee.


• Maintains or helps in the maintenance of an efficient accident record system and coordinates actions taken by supervisors to eliminate accident causes.


• Provides assistance to government agencies in the conduct of safety and health inspection, accident investigation or any other related programs.
