Job summary

Megawide Construction Corporation is seeking a Safety Officer to support the project safety and loss prevention program. You will monitor field work to ensure compliance with safety, health, and security requirements, and conduct pre-deployment safety orientations for new site personnel.

You will assist the Safety Manager, investigate accidents and near misses, and enforce LOTO procedures to prevent injuries.

Qualifications

• Minimum 2 years experience in safety supervision at a project site.
• Graduate of a 4-year course relevant to safety or engineering.
• Familiarity with LOTO and hazard control procedures (COSH/BOSH).
• Knowledge of HIRAC/LCM risk assessment frameworks is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Reports to Safety Manager and supports implementation of Project Safety/Loss Prevention Program.
• Conducts Pre-Deployment Safety Orientation for new site personnel.
• Assists Safety Manager and assumes supervisor tasks when needed.
• Investigates accidents/incidents and near misses; recommends preventive measures.
• Enforces Lock Out Tag Out procedures to prevent energy release injuries.
• Monitors scaffold work, confined space entries, crane work, hot work and energy-related tasks.
• Ensures compliance with Safe Work Permit System at the site.

Job Description

1. Reports to and assists the Safety Manager in the overall Implementation of approved Project Safety / Loss Prevention Program, with a primary function of performing continuous monitoring at work site to ensure continuing conformance of field work force with all relevant safety, health and security requirements.

2. Conducts documented Pre-Deployment Safety Orientation with new site employees or returnees prior to mobilization to project site.

3. Assists Safety Manager in carrying out his duties and responsibilities and, in the latter's absence, assumes supervisory and other functions called for on the Plant.

4. Conduct full investigation of accident / incident, including near misses. Determines probable causes, develops, circulates and enforces appropriate permanent preventive measures.

5. Strictly implement the Lock out Tag out Procedure of the plant to ensure the safety of all personnel where unexpected start-up or release of stored or residual energy could cause injury.

6. Closely monitors scaffold erection / dismantling work, permit-required confined space entries, crane work / lifting operations, hot work, equipment energization, tie-ins, and similar hazardous activities and ensures that all relevant requirements are complied with.
