Job summary

Unitan Construction And Development Corporation is seeking a Safety Officer III to oversee and enforce occupational health and safety policies across manufacturing, fabrication, or industrial settings. You will promote a culture of safety and mentor junior staff.

The role requires a strong foundation in OHS regulations, risk assessment, incident investigation, and training delivery. You will contribute to CAPA implementation, maintain records, and support emergency planning and drills.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in safety-related field or equivalent.
• Experience in manufacturing/fabrication/industrial settings.
• Strong knowledge of OHS regulations, standards, and best practices.
• Experience with risk assessment and incident investigations.
• Excellent communication and leadership skills.
• Proficient in MS Office and SMS.
• Professional certifications preferred.

Responsibilities

• Conduct regular inspections and audits of work areas, equipment, and processes to identify and mitigate hazards.
• Ensure compliance with DOLE, ISO, and applicable health and safety regulations.
• Lead incident investigations, root cause analysis, and implement CAPA actions.
• Prepare and maintain records of safety inspections, training sessions, incident reports, and related documentation.
• Develop and update safety procedures, JHAs, and risk assessments.
• Facilitate safety training programs, toolbox talks, and safety campaigns.
• Monitor PPE usage and proper application.
• Participate in safety committees and coordinate with other departments to resolve concerns.
• Supervise or mentor junior safety staff as needed.
• Assist in emergency response planning and drills.

About the role

The Safety Officer is responsible for overseeing and enforcing occupational health and safety (OHS) policies and procedures within manufacturing, fabrication, or other industrial settings. This role ensures compliance with local, state, and federal regulations, and works to promote a culture of safety among all employees. The Safety Officer III serves as a senior-level safety professional and may supervise or mentor junior safety staff.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct regular inspections and audits of work areas, equipment, and processes to identify and mitigate safety hazards.




• Ensure compliance with DOLE, ISO, and other applicable health and safety regulations.




• Lead incident investigations, root cause analysis, and implementation of corrective and preventive actions (CAPA).




• Prepare and maintain accurate records of safety inspections, training sessions, incident reports, and other relevant documentation.




• Develop, implement, and update safety procedures, job hazard analyses (JHAs), and risk assessments.




• Facilitate safety training programs, toolbox talks, and safety awareness campaigns.




• Monitor the use of personal protective equipment (PPE) and ensure proper application.




• Participate in safety committees and coordinate with other departments to resolve safety concerns.




• Supervise or provide guidance to junior safety staff (Safety Officer I and II) as needed.




• Assist in emergency response planning and drills, including fire evacuation and chemical spill procedures.

About you

• Bachelor's degree in Occupational Safety and Health, Industrial Engineering, Environmental Science, or a related field.




• Prior experience in a safety role within manufacturing, fabrication, construction or industrial settings.




• Strong knowledge of OHS legislation, standards, and industrial best practices.




• Experience with risk assessment and incident investigation tools.




• Excellent communication, training, and leadership skills.




• Proficient in Microsoft Office and safety management systems (SMS).




• Professional certifications preferred.
