Job summary

Qualifications

• Education: High school diploma or equivalent is typically required; some employers may prefer an Associate's degree or prior retail/customer service experience.
• Communication: Exceptional verbal communication and interpersonal skills to build rapport with buyers.
• Math Skills: Basic arithmetic and numerical accuracy to handle cash drawers, make change, and process transactions.
• Physical Stamina: Ability to stand and walk for extended periods, and routinely lift moderate weights (often up to 50 lbs) for stocking and inventory purposes

Responsibilities

• Customer Assistance: Welcome customers warmly, identify their needs, and provide expert product recommendations and demonstrations.
• Sales & Promotion: Meet or exceed individual and team sales targets by upselling, cross-selling, and informing customers about special promotions or loyalty programs.
• Store Operations: Maintain the visual appeal of the sales floor, restock shelves, set up merchandise displays, and ensure product pricing tags are accurate.
• Transactions: Operate Point of Sale (POS) systems to accurately process cash and card payments, handle returns, and issue refunds.
• Conflict Resolution: Listen attentively to customer complaints and resolve them with empathy and professionalism.
• Product Knowledge: Stay fully updated on product features, specifications, and store policies to effectively answer customer queries.
