Qualifications

• Development and modification of polymers for decorative and industrial paint applications.
• Synthesis and characterization of polymers such as alkyds, acrylics, polyesters and polyurethanes.
• Work aligned with trends like waterborne systems, high solids, hybrids and renewable raw materials.

Responsibilities

• Designing of synthetic resins, functional additives, co-binders, hybrids for surface coating applications.
• Processing and testing of experimental designs as per test protocol defined.
• Characterization of developed polymers and their preliminary evaluation in paint prototype.
• Testing of benchmark samples.
• Evaluation of alternate RM in existing product formulation for suitability.
• Support to plant wrt standardization of the product at PEL/ OPC.
• Maintaining records of experiments in lab notebook & Optiva.
• Coordination with Paint development laboratory.
• Completion of activities within stipulated timelines and maintaining clear records.

Role Description

Job Purpose

Development and modification of polymers for Decorative and Industrial Paint applications. Work involves synthesis and characterization of various polymers like Alkyds, Acrylics, Polyesters, Polyurethanes etc. in line with latest technological trends such as water borne, high solids, hybrids and renewable based raw materials.

Key Performance Indicators

• Designing of synthetic resins, functional additives, co-binders, hybrids for surface coating applications
• Processing and testing of the experimental designs as per test protocol defined
• Characterization of developed polymers and their preliminary evaluation in paint prototype
• Testing of benchmark samples
• Evaluation of alternate RMs in the existing product formulation for suitability
• Support to plant wrt standardization of the product at PEL/ OPC
• Maintaining appropriate and updated records of experiments in lab note book & Optiva
• Co-ordination with Paint development laboratory

Completion of all the activities assigned within stipulated timelines and maintaining clear records of activities in the lab register as well as Optiva (digital register).
