Job summary
Hammerjack Pty Ltd is seeking a Solar Designer to create complete, permit-ready PV and energy-storage designs for residential projects in California. You will work on new construction, retrofits, and battery/EV upgrade scenarios, ensuring compliance with NEC/CEC and interconnection rules while coordinating with project managers and field staff.
The role emphasizes constructability, accurate data intake, and rigorous documentation, with a path to PTO and ongoing design refinements in a fast-paced
Qualifications
- Residential PV design experience in California for new construction and retrofit projects.
- Strong knowledge of NEC 690/705 and CEC Title 24 solar/storage provisions.
- Experience with AHJ permit sets and IOU interconnection packages.
- Battery/Hybrid system design experience is a plus.
- Ability to explain design decisions to PMs and field crews.
Responsibilities
- Review proposals, utility data, and site surveys for accurate data intake.
- Develop PV system layouts, SLDs, wiring diagrams, and production models.
- Coordinate with engineers, builders, and electricians for permits and PTO.
- Prepare permit packages and respond to AHJ/IOU comments with revisions.
- Ensure constructability and provide field support during installation.
- Maintain version control and thorough design notes for handoffs.
