Job summary

Hunt St is seeking a Philippines-based HVAC Design & Estimating Engineer to join as a remote, independent contractor. The role involves design, tendering, take-offs, and heat-load calculations for commercial projects aligned with Australian standards.

You’ll prepare BOQs, manage estimating spreadsheets, and liaise with the client to ensure accurate tender submissions. This is a fully remote engagement with AU business hours, offering flexible time management while meeting deadlines.

Qualifications

• Degree or diploma in Mechanical Engineering, Building Services, or a related field.
• Minimum 2 years' experience in HVAC design, estimating, quantity surveying, or a similar role.
• Proficient in Bluebeam Revu, CostX, Buildsoft, or similar estimating software.
• Strong ability to read and interpret mechanical drawings and project specifications.
• Experience performing heat load calculations using HAP, Trace 700, or equivalent software.
• Solid Microsoft Excel skills — able to build and maintain estimating templates.
• Familiarity with Australian construction standards and HVAC specifications is highly regarded.
• Strong written and spoken English.
• Reliable internet connection, suitable home office setup, and own computer.

Responsibilities

• Assist with design work for HVAC installation projects in line with client requirements.
• Ensure design and estimating work comply with Australian standards and codes.
• Prepare quantity take-offs and Bills of Quantities from drawings.
• Maintain Excel-based take-off templates and estimating spreadsheets.
• Compile and format tender packages with pricing schedules and compliance docs.
• Track variations and assist in preparing variation claims for client submission.
• Perform heat load calculations and assist with equipment selection.
• Support data entry in project management tools and maintain documentation.
