Job summary

Emapta is hiring a Direct Bill Specialist to oversee direct bill transactions, resolve account discrepancies, and maintain precise records in Applied Epic and related systems. The role is a permanent work-from-home position supporting insurance operations with a global client base.

Responsibilities include monthly reconciliations, billing inquiries, and process optimization. Requires accounting/finance degree and insurance accounting experience; Excel proficiency is essential.

Qualifications

• Degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, or a related field.
• Previous experience in insurance accounting, agency accounting, or direct bill processing
• Experience using Applied Epic or a similar insurance agency management system
• Proficiency in account reconciliation and financial recordkeeping
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Microsoft Excel
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
• Strong organizational and time-management skills
• Ability to maintain confidentiality when handling sensitive financial information

Responsibilities

• Manage and monitor direct bill accounts and insurance carrier transactions.
• Review carrier statements, invoices, and account activity for accuracy.
• Process and reconcile direct bill payments, premiums, commissions, and adjustments.
• Research and resolve billing discrepancies, unapplied cash, and account variances.
• Coordinate with insurance carriers regarding billing inquiries, payment statuses, and account issues.
• Communicate with clients, producers, and internal teams regarding billing inquiries.
• Maintain accurate billing records, transaction histories, and supporting documentation.
• Assist with month-end reconciliations and accounting close activities.
• Monitor outstanding balances and follow up on unresolved billing items.
• Process refunds, adjustments, and other billing-related transactions.
• Record transactions accurately in Applied Epic and relevant accounting systems.
• Support audits by preparing requested documentation and reports.
• Follow company accounting procedures, internal controls, and insurance industry requirements.
• Identify opportunities to improve billing accuracy, processes, and efficiency.
