Job summary

Outstaffer.AI is seeking an experienced Cost Estimator to join a remote, full-time role supporting an Australian building contractor. You will own pricing and estimating tasks, takeoffs from drawings, and liaise with the Australian project team.

The ideal candidate has worked directly for an Australian builder, knows local industry practices, and excels in Bluebeam and Excel to deliver accurate, timely quotes and competitive budgets for commercial, industrial, and retail projects.

Qualifications

• Proven cost estimating experience gained working directly for an Australian builder (commercial, industrial, and retail).
• Strong knowledge of the Australian building industry, including standard practices, terminology, and cost benchmarks.
• Ability to manage pricing and estimating tasks independently with minimal onboarding or oversight.
• Proficiency in Bluebeam for takeoffs and PDF-based document markup.
• Advanced Excel skills for pricing, data handling and estimate preparation.
• Strong attention to detail and accuracy under project deadlines.
• Clear written and verbal communication with an Australian-based client team.

Responsibilities

• Prepare accurate quantity takeoffs from architectural and construction drawings using Bluebeam.
• Develop and manage detailed cost estimates and pricing schedules in Excel.
• Independently manage pricing tasks end-to-end, applying sound judgement built from hands-on Australian building industry experience.
• Liaise with the estimating and broader project team to ensure pricing accuracy, consistency, and turnaround aligned with project timelines.
• Apply current knowledge of Australian material costs, trade rates, and building practices to keep estimates accurate and competitive.
• Support the team in handling a growing volume of project pricing as workload increases.
