Job summary

Hire with Reef is seeking an Accountant to manage day-to-day bookkeeping, financial reporting, and BAS compliance for Australian SME clients. You will handle 6-8 portfolios, perform monthly reconciliations, payroll, and year-end work, while communicating directly with clients and supporting senior accountants.

The role is fully remote, requires 2-4+ years in Australian practice, and emphasizes attention to detail, strong English communication, and proactive problem-solving for diverse industries.

Qualifications

• 2-4+ years of practical accounting experience in an Australian practice environment.
• Strong knowledge of Australian tax legislation, BAS requirements, and superannuation regulations.
• Proficiency in Xero and MYOB; QuickBooks experience is advantageous.
• Ability to manage multiple client portfolios with varying complexity and deadlines.
• Excellent attention to detail with strong reconciliation skills.
• Experience preparing financial statements, management reports and cashflow forecasts.
• Excellent written English for client correspondence and reports.
• Self-motivated with ability to prioritise across multiple clients with minimal supervision.
• Experience working remotely with solid time management.
• Comfortable with month-end and quarter-end deadlines; proactive communicator.

Responsibilities

• Manage day-to-day bookkeeping for Australian SME clients.
• Prepare financial reporting, cashflow forecasts and management reports.
• Ensure BAS compliance and payroll processing for clients.
• Support senior accountants with tax planning and advisory work.
• Maintain accurate records and identify process improvements.
