Job summary

Keystone Bookkeepers is seeking an Accounting Manager to serve as the primary accounting resource for our bookkeeping department. You will help ensure client financials are accurate, complete, and ready for delivery while managing a portfolio of 10–15 clients and guiding a growing team.

This fully remote leadership role emphasizes technical accounting oversight, quality control, and process improvement as the department scales, with onboarding aligned to U.S.-based client work hours.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of experience in accounting, bookkeeping, CAS, outsourced accounting, or public accounting.
• 2+ years in a reviewing, supervisory, or accounting leadership role.
• Strong QuickBooks Online (QBO) experience.
• Strong financial statement and balance sheet review skills.
• Experience reviewing reconciliations, journal entries, and supporting schedules.
• Ability to independently identify accounting issues and discrepancies.
• Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills.
• Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy.
• Strong written communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Review client financial statements before delivery.
• Analyze balance sheet accounts for discrepancies, unusual activity, and unsupported balances.
• Identify trends, inconsistencies, and accounting issues that require follow-up.
• Review bank and credit card reconciliations, journal entries, schedules, and supporting documentation.
• Ensure financial statements are accurate, complete, and client‑ready.
• Own the month‑end close review process for bookkeeping clients.
• Investigate unusual or unexpected changes in financial activity.
• Escalate significant accounting issues to management when appropriate.
• Supervise, support, and provide technical guidance to bookkeeping staff.
• Train and mentor team members on accounting practices and quality standards.
• Serve as the primary accounting resource for the bookkeeping department.
• Maintain and improve quality control standards and review procedures.
• Assist with cleanup and catch‑up projects as needed.
• Initially manage approximately 10–15 clients, with production responsibilities decreasing as the team grows.
• Help develop, document, and improve accounting processes and best practices.
