JOB DESCRIPTION:
- Relay Testing & Commissioning - Perform secondary injection testing of electromechanical, static, and numerical/digital protective relays using relay test sets
- Relay Configuration & Settings - Verify relay setting files, logic diagrams, and SCADA/RTU signal lists against approved protection philosophies
- Protection System Maintenance - Execute scheduled maintenance testing of in-service protection relay systems and client maintenance programs
Documentation & Reporting - Prepare detailed relay test reports, commissioning records, and as-found/as-left data sheets. Develop and review single-line diagrams, schematic drawings, and protection panel wiring diagrams
- Safety & Compliance - Enforce LOTO (Lockout/Tagout) procedures and electrical safety practices on all sites.
JOB REQUIREMENTS:
- Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering (BSEE)
- PRC Registered Electrical Engineer (REE) License – required
- Minimum 3 years of experience specifically in protection relay testing, commissioning, or protection engineering
- Proficiency with relay test equipment.
- Demonstrated experience configuring and testing numerical relays from at least two major manufacturers (ABB, SEL, GE/Multilin, Schneider, Siemens)
- Working knowledge of power system protection principles: overcurrent, differential, distance, and earth fault protection.
- Ability to read and interpret protection schematic drawings, AC/DC control circuit diagrams, and relay logic diagrams.
- Familiarity with CT/VT theory, burden calculations, and saturation analysis.
- Willing to travel and work on extended project assignments nationwide.
