JOB SUMMARY:
The SCADA & Protection Engineer oversees the maintenance, repair, and operation of Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition and protection relays to ensure the plant operates efficiently and safely.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Work closely with mechanical, operations, and instrumentation teams to ensure that all plant systems function cohesively.
- Conduct or attend regular safety meetings.
- Conduct the inspection, testing and maintenance of SCADA system Protection relays and other electrical system.
- Join in the troubleshooting of critical equipment to ensure quick repair of electrical issues to minimize power generation disruptions.
- Monitor the occurrence of protection relay, electric equipment failures and analyze the root cause to recommend a solution.
- Assist Electrical Superintendent and recommend critical spares for Electrical Section budget and ensure cost-effective measures.
- Monitor inventory of electrical spare parts, tools and equipment, ensuring availability when needed.
- Create purchase requisitions of parts and services and scrutinize the offers during the technical evaluation phase and do technical inspections during the delivery of items.
- Prepare reports and root cause analysis of major electrical incidents.
- Create and review maintenance procedures for electrical activities.
- Recommend development plan, training needs analysis of direct reports and submit them to Electrical Superintendent.
- Stay updated with industry trends and advancements in electrical engineering and power generation technologies.

TECHNICAL COMPETENCIES AND SKILLS:
- Ability to plan and organize the implementation of electrical maintenance activities.
- Ability to read diagrams especially the control and tripping circuits of the circuit breakers
- Knowledgeable in the different device numbers or different trip functions used in the protective relays for transformers,generators, etc.
- Knowledgeable in using various electrical testing equipment such as multimeters, insulation resistance tester, relay testers, etc.
- Ability to read and understand instruction manuals and operating procedures.
- Ability to generate written reports using Microsoft office applications.
- Possess excellent problem-solving techniques and sound decision making.
- Possess good interpersonal and communication skills.

EDUCATION:
- BS Electrical Engineering
EXPERIENCE:
- Two (2) years of experience in Coal Firedpower plant operation or maintenance
- At least six (6) months experience in maintenance of SCADA and Protective Relay Systems of a power plant orequivalent industrial plant
