Job summary

S&P Global, Inc. is seeking a data management professional to contribute to the Equity Data value stream, focusing on a unified security master database and rigorous data governance.

You will implement validation, support corporate actions reflection, and collaborate with index calculation and client support teams while working in-office at least two days per week. This role offers exposure to securities domain and advanced data tools, with opportunities for career growth.

Qualifications

  • 3+ years of experience in data management, security reference data, or a related financial services role.
  • Strong SQL skills with experience in relational databases.
  • Ability to work independently and collaborate effectively within a team, demonstrating strong communication skills.
  • External candidates who reach the final stage of the interview process must attend at least one in-person interview at your nearest S&P Global office before an offer can be made.

  • Develop deep domain expertise in securities, corporate actions, and security master data, gaining exposure to industry standards and advanced data management tools crucial for career growth and skill development.

About the Role:

Grade Level (for internal use): 09

The Team: The Equity Data value stream at S&P Dow Jones Indices manages data related to securities and corporate actions, ensuring accuracy and reliability for indices and analytics. They collaborate closely with other departments to support index calculation, rebalance, and client needs.

Responsibilities and Impact:
  • Contribute to the design and maintenance of a unified security master database, ensuring data accuracy and serving as the single source of truth for the organization.
  • Implement robust data governance practices, including validation and auditing, to maintain high standards of data quality, consistency, and completeness for critical financial products.
  • Ensure prompt and accurate reflection of corporate actions (mergers, splits, dividends) in the security master, supporting downstream processes and global products.
  • Collaborate effectively with cross‑functional teams, including index calculation and client support, to align the security master with business needs and facilitate seamless data flow.
  • Develop deep domain expertise in securities, corporate actions, and security master data, gaining exposure to industry standards and advanced data management tools crucial for career growth and skill development.
  • All employees are required to work from the office a minimum of 2 days per week.
What We’re Looking For:

Basic Required Qualifications:

  • 3+ years of experience in data management, security reference data, or a related financial services role.
  • Strong SQL skills with experience in relational databases, coupled with excellent attention to detail and problem‑solving abilities.
  • Ability to work independently and collaborate effectively within a team, demonstrating strong communication skills.
  • External candidates who reach the final stage of the interview process must attend at least one in‑person interview at your nearest S&P Global office before an offer can be made.

Additional Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with Databricks, Python programming, or ETL processes like Power Automate.
  • Demonstrated ability to contribute to team initiatives and resolve varied, non‑routine issues, providing guidance and clarification to support quality work output.
  • Strong emotional intelligence, actively listening and collaborating to achieve team goals, and effectively prioritizing tasks based on importance and urgency.
  • Proactive in seeking new ideas, adaptable in applying previous experience to improve approaches, and capable of interpreting technical information clearly to aid understanding.
