Job summary

S&P Global, Inc. is seeking an experienced data governance professional to lead governance and data quality initiatives within the Equity Data value stream.

The role focuses on ensuring accuracy, consistency, and responsible AI practices across critical financial data assets. You will design monitoring programs, drive root-cause analysis, and collaborate with data owners to implement improvements while adhering to industry frameworks and regulatory expectations.

Qualifications

  • 5+ years of data governance or data quality experience in financial services.
  • Familiarity with DAMA‑DMBOK, DCAM or similar frameworks.
  • Proficient in SQL and data analysis with strong documentation skills.
  • External candidates must attend at least one in-person interview at the nearest S&P Global office.

  • Support AI risk assessments by evaluating potential biases and unintended consequences, maintain an AI model inventory, and collaborate with AI Solutions Experts to ensure responsible AI practices.
  • Participate in project intake and review processes, providing guidance on governance requirements and identifying risks to ensure compliance and support successful project outcomes.
  • Serve as a governance resource and advisor to value stream SMEs, fostering a culture of governance by developing training materials, facilitating awareness sessions, and building strong relationships with stakeholders.
  • Identify opportunities for continuous improvement and innovation in governance processes, staying current on emerging technologies and contributing ideas to enhance frameworks and operational practices.
  • All employees are required to work from the office a minimum of 2 days per week.

About the Role

Grade Level (for internal use): 09

Team: The Equity Data value stream at S&P Dow Jones Indices ensures the accuracy, consistency, and ethical use of data across SPDJI data assets and AI solutions, playing a pivotal role in data governance and quality management.

Responsibilities

What We’re Looking For

Basic Required Qualifications:

  • 5+ years of experience in data governance, data quality management, compliance, or related financial services roles, with 2+ years working with data‑management frameworks.
  • Strong understanding of data governance frameworks (DAMA‑DMBOK, DCAM, or similar), data quality assessment methodologies, and AI/ML concepts including responsible AI principles.
  • Ability to write SQL queries and perform basic data analysis, coupled with excellent documentation skills to create clear policies and technical specifications.
  • External candidates who reach the final stage of our interview process must attend at least one in‑person interview at the nearest S&P Global office before an offer can be made.

Additional Preferred Qualifications:

  • Professional certifications in data governance, data management, or privacy (CDMP, DGSP, CIPP, or similar).
  • Demonstrated ability to contribute to team initiatives, resolve varied and non‑routine issues, and provide guidance and clarification to support quality work output.
  • Strong emotional intelligence, actively listening to understand diverse perspectives, and prioritizing tasks based on importance and urgency to advance team goals.
  • Proactive in using previous experience to identify appropriate courses of action or improve existing approaches, and capable of interpreting technical information to aid understanding within the team.
