Job summary

Universal Robina Corporation invites a Quality and Food Safety Specialist (Microbiologist) to join our Malvar Batangas facility. The role ensures microbiological quality and safety of raw materials, in-process products, and finished goods through rigorous testing and compliance with industry standards.

The ideal candidate holds a Microbiology or Food Science degree, PAM registration, and at least 2 years in a microbiology lab within food manufacturing.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Microbiology, Food Science, or related field.
• Licensed professional (PAM registered) preferred.
• Minimum of 2 years in a microbiology laboratory, preferably in food manufacturing.
• Experience with QA and food safety standards (HACCP, ISO 22000, GMP).
• Strong microbiological analytical skills and problem-solving abilities.
• Proficiency with microbiological techniques and laboratory equipment.
• Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Good written and verbal communication skills.
• Proficiency with computer software (e.g., Microsoft Office, LIMS).

Responsibilities

• Perform microbiological analysis of raw materials, in-process products, and finished goods.
• Identify and quantify microorganisms in samples using microbiological techniques.
• Prepare and maintain microbiological cultures and samples.
• Monitor and test environmental samples from the facility to detect contamination.
• Conduct routine microbial testing of water, air, and surfaces in the production area.
• Ensure compliance with microbiological standards and regulatory requirements.
• Assist in internal and external audits with necessary documentation.
• Participate in quality improvement projects and initiatives.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to resolve microbiological quality issues.
• Recommend and implement changes to enhance microbiological QC processes

The Quality and Food Safety Specialist - Microbiologist will ensure our snack products' microbiological quality and safety by conducting rigorous microbiological testing on raw materials, in-process products, and finished goods. What are the Roles and Responsibilities?
