Job summary

First Principles, Llc is seeking a QA Engineer who sits at the intersection of QA, engineering, and product. You will drive test automation across API, UI, and service‑to‑service layers while understanding real customer flows beyond just how features work.

You’ll start with manual testing to deeply learn the system, then automate and craft an automated suite that reduces re‑checking across releases, owning the test environment and data for realistic validation.

Qualifications

• Automation expertise is non‑negotiable; strong test automation background across UI and API.
• Ability to design and maintain automated tests that cover end-to-end customer flows.
• Familiarity with distributed systems, message queues, and event-driven architectures.

Responsibilities

• Manual and release testing across new features, including unhappy-path scenarios.
• Build and maintain automated test suites for API, web UI, and service‑to‑service layers; review code and write tests.
• Own the test/proxy API to simulate production messaging and keep it aligned with real usage.
• Reproduce issues with precise steps, trace IDs, and logs to aid engineering investigation.
• Support performance and load testing framework setup and run tests on a schedule.
• Configure and operate test environments and CI workflows for reliable test runs.
• Collaborate with PM to document manual test cases and improve QA processes.
