LEC STEEL MANUFACTURING CORP. is seeking a detail‑oriented Purchasing Officer (Import) in Quezon City. You will source, negotiate, and procure materials from international suppliers to support manufacturing operations and cost efficiency.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in business, commerce, supply chain management, or a related field.
• 1–2 years of experience in purchasing, procurement, or import operations, preferably in manufacturing.
• Strong knowledge of international trade, import procedures, and customs regulations.
• Proficiency in procurement software and MS Office applications.
• Excellent negotiation skills and ability to build supplier relationships.
• Strong analytical and problem solving abilities with attention to detail.

Responsibilities

• Identify, evaluate, and select qualified international suppliers based on quality, cost, delivery, and service criteria.
• Develop and maintain relationships with overseas suppliers for reliable sourcing.
• Prepare and negotiate purchase orders with international vendors, ensuring favourable terms.
• Monitor import shipments and track delivery schedules for on‑time arrival.
• Coordinate with customs brokers and logistics providers to ensure import compliance.
• Manage import documentation (LCs, bills of lading, declarations, origin certificates).
• Process invoices and reconcile shipments with PO and receiving reports.
• Analyse import costs (freight, insurance, tariffs, duties) to optimise procurement expenses.
• Liaise with production, QA, and finance to communicate delivery status and specs.
• Maintain records of supplier performance, import transactions, and procurement metrics.
• Stay updated on trade regulations and import compliance.

About the role

LEC STEEL MANUFACTURING CORP. is seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Purchasing Officer (Import) to join our procurement team. This is a full-time position based in Quezon City, Metro Manila. As a Purchasing Officer specialising in import operations, you will play a crucial role in sourcing, negotiating, and procuring materials and components from international suppliers. Your work will directly support our manufacturing operations and contribute to maintaining cost efficiency whilst ensuring the timely delivery of quality materials. This role requires a strategic approach to international procurement and a strong understanding of import regulations, customs procedures, and supply chain logistics.

Key responsibilities

• Identify, evaluate, and select qualified international suppliers based on quality, cost, delivery, and service criteria
• Develop and maintain relationships with overseas suppliers to ensure reliable and competitive sourcing
• Prepare and negotiate purchase orders with international vendors, ensuring favourable terms and conditions
• Monitor import shipments and track delivery schedules to ensure on-time arrival of materials
• Coordinate with customs brokers and logistics providers to ensure compliance with import regulations and documentation requirements
• Manage import documentation including letters of credit, bills of lading, customs declarations, and certificates of origin
• Process invoices and reconcile shipments with purchase orders and receiving reports
• Analyse import costs, including freight, insurance, tariffs, and duties, to optimise procurement expenses
• Liaise with internal departments including production, quality assurance, and finance to communicate delivery status and material specifications
• Maintain accurate records of supplier performance, import transactions, and procurement metrics
• Stay updated on international trade regulations, tariff changes, and import compliance requirements
• Support the development and implementation of procurement strategies to improve efficiency and reduce costs

What we're looking for

• Bachelor's degree in business, Commerce, Supply Chain Management, or a related field
• Minimum of 1-2 years of experience in purchasing, procurement, or import operations, preferably within the manufacturing sector
• Strong knowledge of international trade, import procedures, and customs regulations
• Proficiency in procurement software and Microsoft Office applications (Excel, Word, Outlook)
• Excellent negotiation skills and ability to build and maintain supplier relationships
• Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities with attention to detail
• Ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities effectively in a fast-paced environment
• Excellent communication skills in English, both written and verbal
• Knowledge of Incoterms and international shipping practices
• Experience with customs documentation and clearance procedures
• Familiarity with quality standards and material specifications in manufacturing
• Certification in procurement, supply chain management, or international trade is preferred
