Turn this role into an interview — a resume and cover letter built around what this employer wants.
Leoch International is seeking an experienced Project Engineer to act as the technical anchor for battery-system projects. You will manage design finalisation, FAT, on-site installation, commissioning, and handover with autonomy, and interface with customers as the technical spokesperson.
You will review specs, size batteries, develop submittals, and lead site activities while mentoring junior engineers. ASEAN travel will be required as projects span the region.
You will be the technical anchor for every project you run - from design finalisation through factory acceptance testing, site installation, and commissioning, to final handover. This is a genuinely hands-on role: you will solve real engineering problems on site, see systems you designed go live, and be directly accountable for outcomes you can point to. You will work with real autonomy, interface directly with customers as our technical spokesperson, and mentor junior engineers as the team grows.
Own the technical delivery of projects end-to-end: design finalisation, manufacturing oversight, factory acceptance testing (FAT), site installation, commissioning, and site acceptance testing (SAT).
Review and validate customer specifications, single-line diagrams, protection settings, and battery string configurations.
Develop engineering submittals, method statements, and commissioning procedures.
Perform battery sizing calculations, load analysis, and runtime verification.
Review and secure approval for mechanical layouts, cable routing, racking, and ventilation designs for battery rooms and containerised BESS.
Ensure designs comply with local codes (SCDF fire safety for ESS, SS standards) and international standards such as UL 9540A and NFPA 855.
Lead or supervise site installation, termination, and commissioning activities.
Troubleshoot installation and commissioning issues together with the technical team (e.g., impedance deviations, BMS integration faults, thermal anomalies).
Act as the technical spokesperson to customers during project execution - explaining design decisions, test results, and operational parameters.
Guide and review the work of junior engineers and technicians.
Diploma or Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Power Systems Engineering, or a related technical field.
At least 3 years of hands-on project engineering experience in battery systems, electrical infrastructure, or construction.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with proficiency in MS Project and Excel.
Clear, professional communication skills — you can explain technical decisions to customers and write solid project documentation.
Well-organised and detail-oriented, with the confidence to lead site activities and coordinate multiple stakeholders.
Willingness to travel within ASEAN for site surveys, commissioning, and customer meetings.
