Gough Recruitment (Hong Kong) Pty Limited seeks an Electrical Technical Director for data centre projects in APAC, based in Singapore. You will lead electrical design across HV/MV/LV systems, drive standardisation, and coordinate with vendors, clients, and engineering teams to ensure reliable, scalable power infrastructure.
You will review vendor designs, guide documentation, and oversee commissioning activities while advancing off-site manufacturing and design-for-manufacture practices.
Provide technical leadership for electrical systems and equipment across newbuild data centre developments in APAC.
Based in Singapore, you will act as the client's primary electrical representative — leading vendor design reviews, overseeing HV/MV/LV systems and critical power infrastructure, and driving standardisation and design-for-manufacture across complex mission-critical projects.
Review and guide vendor designs, shop drawings, specifications, and calculations for compliance with project requirements, OPRs, IEC standards, and client guidelines.
Provide detailed red-line reviews and technical feedback to vendors, driving timely closure of engineering documentation across multiple projects and regions.
Review and validate system calculations: switchgear/transformer sizing, CT/PT selection, thermal and derating calculations, load assessments, and protection coordination studies.
Assess system architecture, distribution topology, redundancy strategies, and equipment layouts for reliability, maintainability, and scalability.
Critical Power & Commissioning
Provide technical oversight of HV/MV/LV systems, substations, transformers, switchgear, generators, BESS, busduct, and E-Houses.
Support commissioning teams — reviewing testing procedures and scripts, coordinating with onsite vendors, and troubleshooting system issues.
Analyse equipment failures and recurring defects to identify root causes and drive design improvements.
Product Development & Standardisation
Lead electrical product development discussions with multiple vendors simultaneously.
Support off-site manufacturing and modular deployment — identifying opportunities in design-for-manufacture, standardisation, and deployment efficiency.
Update owner standards, specifications, and engineering guidelines as lessons learned are identified.
Maintain issue logs, risk trackers, and engineering records; escape critical issues across disciplines.
Stakeholder Coordination
Act as primary point of contact for electrical matters across clients, consultants, OEMs, contractors, and internal teams (CSA, Mechanical, Controls, Network, Security, EHS, Commissioning, Operations).
Coordinate thermal interfaces with Mechanical teams and network/fibre integration with Network Engineering.
Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering; PE or Chartered status preferred.
15+ years in electrical design, product development, and delivery for mission-critical, utility, industrial, or data centre projects (hyperscale experience highly desirable).
Extensive knowledge of HV/MV/LV systems, substations, transformers, switchgear, generators, BESS, busduct, and E-Houses.
Strong understanding of protection, metering, control circuits, thermal analysis, and equipment sizing.
Experience reviewing vendor/manufacturing drawings and factory-produced electrical products.
Familiarity with modular construction, off-site manufacturing, and design-for-manufacture principles.
Proficient in AutoCAD, Revit, SolidWorks, and ACC/BIM 360 workflows.
Strong knowledge of IEC codes and international electrical standards.
Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills; able to manage multiple deliverables under schedule pressure.
