Job summary

Performance Automation Solutions, Inc. is seeking an Assistant PM focusing on control systems for commercial and government construction projects.

This locally based role in San Diego, CA works under Senior Project Managers and handles day-to-day management, including regular visits to job sites. You will review drawings, track RFIs and submittals, coordinate subcontractors and our remote engineering team, help with change orders, and support project closeout.

Qualifications

• Experience reading and understanding mechanical and electrical drawings.
• Basic understanding of commercial and government construction processes.
• Familiarity with RFIs, submittals, and change orders.
• Ability to travel regularly to local job sites.
• Valid driver's license.
• Ability to travel to remote job sites for 1–2 days as needed.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a project team.
• Able to meet strict deadlines without supervision.
• Excellent communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Review contract drawings and specifications to generate RFIs.
• Track submittals and RFIs and communicate with customers to ensure prompt responses.
• Review HVAC controls shop drawings and submittals for conformance to the plans and specifications.
• Identify scope changes and generate, price, and track change orders.
• Make regular job site visits to monitor progress and resolve field issues.
• Attend job site and coordination meetings with general contractors and other trades.
• Coordinate subcontractors, field staff, and our remote engineering team to keep projects on schedule.
• Track project schedules, material orders, and deliveries.
• Assist with project closeout, including punch lists, as-builts, and O&M documentation.
• Support the Senior Project Managers in all aspects of the project life cycle.

• Ability to travel to local job sites regularly.
• Valid drivers license.
