Job description

About the role

The Project Based Site Manager oversees and monitors the EPC Contractor's construction execution for the assigned Solar Power Plant project, ensuring that work progresses continuously and on schedule. Reporting to the Project Manager and directly supervising the Site Engineer/s, the role proactively drives, challenges, and holds the EPC Contractor accountable to resolve bottlenecks, remove obstacles, and maintain project momentum in line with the EPC contract. While the QA/QC, HSE, Environmental, and Site Administration functions report directly to the Project Manager, the Site Manager is expected to proactively engage and fully align with these teams on site to verify the EPC Contractor's quality, safety, and regulatory compliance and keep construction continuously moving.

Key responsibilities
  • Proactively oversee and drive the EPC Contractor's day-to-day construction activities, pushing the Contractor to maintain manpower, equipment, and material mobilization needed to keep the site continuously moving.
  • Monitor the EPC Contractor's daily and weekly site progress against the approved project schedule (S-curve), promptly identifying slippages, bottlenecks, and constraints, and pushing the Contractor to take immediate corrective action to recover lost time.
  • Proactively coordinate and expedite the resolution of technical, logistical, and permitting issues that could delay the EPC Contractor's construction works, escalating unresolved items to the Project Manager without delay.
  • Lead site coordination meetings with the EPC Contractor, subcontractors, and vendors to align on priorities, work sequencing, and manpower/equipment deployment.
  • Proactively engage and fully align with QA/QC to independently verify the EPC Contractor's compliance with approved engineering drawings, specifications, and quality standards on site, ensuring non-conformances and rework are identified, flagged to the Contractor, and resolved quickly to avoid delays.
  • Proactively engage and fully align with HSE and Environmental teams to monitor and enforce the EPC Contractor's strict implementation of safety and environmental protocols on site, preventing incidents that could disrupt construction progress.
  • Monitor and validate the EPC Contractor's mobilization of manpower, equipment, and materials against contractual commitments, proactively pushing the Contractor to sustain adequate and timely resourcing for continuous construction momentum.
  • Review, validate, and certify the EPC Contractor's progress reports, billing, and manpower/equipment logs, ensuring accuracy and alignment with actual site accomplishment prior to submission for Client approval and payment processing.
  • Coordinate closely with Design, Document Control, and Site Administration to ensure timely delivery of Client-furnished materials, permits, approvals, and administrative support needed by the EPC Contractor to sustain uninterrupted site work.
  • Represent the Client during site inspections, audits, and regulatory visits, monitor the EPC Contractor's overall project delivery, and prepare regular progress reports that flag risks early and recommend proactive recovery and mitigation measures to keep the project on track.
About you
  • Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering, or related Engineering field
  • Licensed Engineer (PRC) preferred/required
  • Minimum 8 years of relevant work experience, with at least 3 years in construction management of Solar Power Plant projects or equivalent large-scale infrastructure/EPC construction projects; prior experience as a Client's/Owner's representative overseeing EPC Contractors is an advantage
  • In-depth knowledge of solar power plant construction methods, civil and electrical works, and EPC contract execution processes.
  • Proficiency in reading and interpreting engineering drawings, specifications, and project schedules, and familiarity with tools such as MS Project or Primavera P6.
  • Working knowledge of HSE regulations, quality standards, and EPC contract administration principles applicable to solar power plant construction.
  • Strong leadership and decision-making skills to proactively drive site teams and keep construction progress on track.
  • Highly proactive, results-driven, and able to push site progress and resolve issues under pressure.
  • Strong problem-solving, conflict-resolution, and follow-up skills to ensure timely completion of site activities.
