Job summary

ECLOF Philippines Microfinance, Inc. is seeking a Program Officer to manage client relationships, oversee loan portfolios, and ensure successful implementation of microfinance programmes.

You will work with clients, internal teams, and community partners to promote financial inclusion, deliver field activities, provide financial literacy training, and report on portfolio performance.

The role requires travel to client locations, strong communication, and a commitment to ethical practice.

Qualifications

About the role

As a Program Officer, you will be responsible for managing client relationships, overseeing loan portfolios, and ensuring the successful implementation of our microfinance programmes. You will work directly with clients, internal teams, and community partners to facilitate access to financial services and support programme activities that drive financial inclusion and economic empowerment.

Key responsibilities
  • Manage and maintain relationships with a portfolio of microfinance clients, ensuring regular communication and support throughout the loan lifecycle
  • Conduct client assessments, verify creditworthiness, and prepare loan application documentation in accordance with institutional policies and procedures
  • Monitor loan disbursement, collection, and repayment schedules to ensure portfolio performance meets organisational targets
  • Provide financial literacy training and guidance to clients to promote responsible borrowing and financial management practices
  • Facilitate the implementation of microfinance programmes, including savings schemes, group lending initiatives, and business development activities
  • Conduct field visits to assess client business operations, identify support needs, and gather information for programme evaluation
  • Prepare accurate and timely reports on programme activities, client progress, and portfolio performance metrics
  • Coordinate with internal departments including credit, operations, and compliance to ensure smooth programme delivery
  • Identify opportunities to expand programme reach and develop strategies to engage new clients and communities
  • Maintain detailed and organised client records and documentation in accordance with data protection and regulatory requirements
About you
  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Finance, Economics, Social Sciences, or a related field
  • Minimum 2–3 years of experience in microfinance, account management, client relationship management, or a similar role within the financial services or development sector
  • Strong understanding of microfinance principles, lending practices, and financial inclusion concepts
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to build trust and rapport with diverse clients from various socioeconomic backgrounds
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple client relationships simultaneously whilst maintaining high service standards
  • Proficiency in basic financial analysis and credit assessment
  • Strong organisational and time-management skills with meticulous attention to detail
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications and experience with microfinance management information systems (preferred)
  • Willingness to conduct regular field visits and travel to client locations as required by the role
  • Filipino language proficiency is essential; English language proficiency is required
