About the role

Southern Arms Corporation is seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Procurement Officer to join our team in Cagayan de Oro, Misamis Oriental. This is a full-time position that plays a crucial role in our manufacturing and logistics operations. The Procurement Officer will be responsible for managing the acquisition of goods and services, ensuring cost-effectiveness, quality, and timely delivery of materials essential to our manufacturing processes. This role is strategically important to our operations, directly impacting our production efficiency, budget management, and supplier relationships.

What you'll be doing

1. Identifying and evaluating potential suppliers and vendors to ensure competitive pricing and quality standards
2. Preparing purchase orders, requests for quotations, and procurement documentation with accuracy and attention to detail
3. Negotiating contracts and terms with suppliers to secure the best possible value for the company
4. Monitoring inventory levels and coordinating with production teams to forecast procurement needs
5. Managing supplier relationships and maintaining communication to ensure timely delivery of materials
6. Verifying invoices and ensuring compliance with purchase orders prior to payment authorisation
7. Maintaining accurate records of all procurement activities and generating reports for management review
8. Ensuring all procurement activities comply with company policies and relevant regulations
9. Identifying opportunities for cost reduction and process improvements within the procurement function
10. Collaborating with internal departments to understand their material and service requirements

What we're looking for

1. Proven experience working in a procurement or purchasing role, ideally within manufacturing or logistics environments
2. Strong knowledge of procurement processes, supplier management, and inventory control practices
3. Proficiency in using procurement software and Microsoft Office applications
4. Excellent negotiation skills with the ability to secure favourable terms and pricing
5. Attention to detail and strong organisational abilities to manage multiple suppliers and orders simultaneously
6. Understanding of quality assurance standards and the ability to verify supplier compliance
7. Professional communication skills in English; fluency in additional languages is advantageous
8. Ability to work independently whilst collaborating effectively with cross-functional teams
9. Knowledge of relevant regulations and compliance requirements in procurement and manufacturing
10. A diploma or degree in Business, Supply Chain Management, or a related field is preferred
