Job summary

Coherent Corp. in Laguna, Philippines, is seeking a hands-on Engineering Technician to join its onsite manufacturing and R&D environment.

The role supports process trials, DOE activities, and product transfers, performing precise inspections and tests to ensure quality and reliability. Responsibilities include handling hold-lot dispositions, collecting data, and collaborating with engineers and production teams to drive process improvements.

Qualifications

• Graduate of vocational courses related to engineering; bachelor’s degree preferred.
• Experience with assembly or test processes such as die bonding, wire bonding, laser marking, or burn-in/test processes is advantageous.
• Knowledge of SPC, 5S, Lean Manufacturing, or continuous improvement tools is an advantage.
• Able to work in shifting schedules and support engineering builds and ramp-up.

Job Description

Primary Duties & Responsibilities

• Support process or product engineers during process trials, design of experiment activities, engineering builds, product transfers, equipment qualification, and process validation
• Assist with hold lot disposition, troubleshooting and root-cause investigations by collecting samples, data, measurements, and relevant process information
• Support the day to day operational activities and the implementation of improvement projects
• Conduct visual, dimensional, mechanical, electrical, and optical inspections using microscopes, gauges, meters, and other inspection equipment
• Perform testing activities like on-going reliability read-out and special testing according to approved procedures
• Report process abnormalities, equipment issues, material problems, product defects, and out-of-specification conditions
• Provide feedback on process improvements, tooling concerns, ergonomic issues, and recurring production problems

Education & Experience

• At least a graduate of vocational courses related to engineering but a bachelor’s degree is preferred
• Experience with assembly processes like die bonding, wire bonding, laser marking, etc or test processes such burn-in, optical testing
• Knowledge of SPC, 5S, Lean Manufacturing, or continuous improvement tools is an advantage
• Able to work on shifting schedules or provide support during engineering builds and production ramp-up

Skills

• Ability to follow detailed work instructions, process specifications, drawings, recipes, and inspection criteria
• Hands-on capability in operating engineering, production equipment
• Basic ability to read and interpret electrical, optical, dimensional, and process data
• Strong attention to detail, manual dexterity, visual acuity, and commitment to product quality.
• Basic troubleshooting and problem-solving skills with the ability to identify abnormal process conditions.
• Ability to work effectively with engineers, operators, quality personnel, and production supervisors.
• Willingness to learn new processes, equipment, technologies, and technical procedures.
• Possess strong teamwork, discipline, reliability, good communication, and safety awareness

Working Conditions

• This role is 100% onsite working in a manufacturing, engineering, laboratory, and cleanroom environment.
• Regularly interacts in production areas, laboratories, equipment, process and cross-functional teams.
• This role is on shifting schedule and will require to support on weekends.
