Job summary

Coherent Corp. is seeking a Maintenance Engineer to perform scheduled preventive maintenance on advanced semiconductor manufacturing equipment, aiming to minimize downtime and ensure safety and quality compliance.

You will work onsite in a manufacturing/engineering environment, support installation, calibration, troubleshooting, and continuous improvement, with shifting schedules and weekend support.

Qualifications

• Graduate of technical vocational courses related to engineering; bachelor's degree preferred.
• 3–5 years of experience in equipment maintenance in semiconductor or optoelectronics manufacturing.
• Hands-on experience with mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, vacuum, motion-control, thermal, or automated systems.
• Able to work on shifting schedules or support during builds and ramp-up.

Responsibilities

• Perform scheduled preventive maintenance activities per procedures, manuals and plans.
• Maintain accurate maintenance records, spare-parts usage, downtime reports and corrective actions.
• Analyze maintenance records to reduce equipment downtime and implement improvements.
• Assist engineers to determine run-to-fail parts and maintenance frequencies.
• Assist with equipment installation, commissioning, calibration verification, upgrades.
• Provide technical support and basic training to operators and maintenance staff.
• Participate in shift handovers, daily equipment meetings, failure reviews and CI activities.

Primary Duties & Responsibilities

• Perform scheduled preventive maintenance activities in accordance with approved maintenance procedures, equipment manuals, and maintenance plans
• Maintain accurate maintenance records, spare-parts usage, downtime reports, and corrective actions while ensuring compliance with safety, ESD, cleanroom protocols, quality, and 5S requirements
• Analyze maintenance records and target to improve equipment related downtimes by identifying and implementing improvement actions in a timely manner
• Assists equipment engineers to determine run to fail parts, determine lifetime of parts, determine appropriate frequency of maintenance
• Assist with equipment installation, commissioning, calibration verification, qualification, upgrades activities
• Provide technical support and basic equipment training to operators, production technicians, and new maintenance personnel.
• Participate in shift handovers, daily equipment meetings, failure reviews, and continuous improvement activities

Education & Experience

• At least a graduate of technical vocational courses related to engineering but a bachelor's degree is preferred
• At least 3–5 years of experience in equipment maintenance in a semiconductor or optoelectronics manufacturing
• Hands‑on experience with mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, vacuum, motion‑control, thermal, or automated manufacturing systems
• Able to work on shifting schedules or provide support during engineering builds and production ramp‑up

Skills

• Has a strong practical knowledge of preventive maintenance, equipment inspection, troubleshooting and repair
• Able to read and interpret electrical schematics, mechanical drawings, equipment manuals, pneumatic diagrams, and maintenance procedures.
• Able to use electrical and mechanical tools and instruments such as multimeters, calipers, torque tools, pressure gauges, temperature meters, and alignment tools at ease
• Strong problem‑solving skills and ability to identify equipment abnormalities before they result in production failures
• Has a basic understanding of equipment reliability, mean time between failures, mean time to repair, downtime analysis, and preventive maintenance effectiveness
• Well organized, able to maintain accurate technical records and strong attention to details

Working Conditions

• This role is 100% onsite working in a manufacturing, engineering, laboratory, and cleanroom environment.
• Regularly interacts in production areas, laboratories, equipment, process and cross‑functional teams.
• This role is on shifting schedule and will require to support on weekends.
