Job summary

Coherent Philippines Pte Ltd is seeking a hands-on process technician to support engineering trials and production ramp-ups in a 100% onsite facility. You will conduct inspections, run tests, collect data, and help implement improvements in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.

The ideal candidate has vocational engineering training, knowledge of LPC/5S/Lean, and willingness to work shifts, including weekends, to ensure smooth production operations.

Qualifications

  • Graduate of vocational courses related to engineering; bachelor’s degree preferred.
  • Experience with assembly processes (die bonding, wire bonding, laser marking) or test processes (burn-in, optical testing).
  • Knowledge of SPC, 5S, Lean Manufacturing or continuous improvement tools is an advantage.
  • Able to work shifting schedules or provide support during engineering builds and production ramp-up.

Responsibilities

  • Support engineers during process trials, DOE activities, and process validation.
  • Assist with hold lot disposition, data collection, and root-cause investigations.
  • Support day-to-day operations and implementation of improvement projects.
  • Conduct inspections using microscopes, gauges, meters, and other equipment.
  • Perform reliability read-outs and testing per approved procedures.
  • Report abnormalities to drive corrective actions and feedback on process improvements.
  • Collaborate with engineers, operators, quality personnel, and supervisors.

Job Description:
Primary Duties & Responsibilities
  • Support process or product engineers during process trials, design of experimentactivities, engineering builds, product transfers, equipment qualification, and process validation
  • Assist with hold lot disposition, troubleshooting and root-cause investigations by collecting samples, data, measurements, and relevant process information
  • Support the day to day operational activities and the implementation of improvement projects
  • Conduct visual, dimensional, mechanical, electrical, and optical inspections using microscopes, gauges, meters, and other inspection equipment
  • Perform testing activities like on-going reliability read-out and special testing according to approved procedures
  • Report process abnormalities, equipment issues, material problems, product defects, and out-of-specification conditions
  • Provide feedback on process improvements, tooling concerns, ergonomic issues, and recurring production problems
Education & Experience
  • At least a graduate of vocational courses related to engineering but a bachelor’s degree is preferred
  • Experience with assembly processes like die bonding, wire bonding, laser marking, etc or test processes such burn-in, optical testing

  • Ability to follow detailed work instructions, process specifications, drawings, recipes, and inspection criteria
  • Hands-on capability in operating engineering, production equipment
  • Basic ability to read and interpret electrical, optical, dimensional, and process data
  • Strong attention to detail, manual dexterity, visual acuity, and commitment to product quality.
  • Basic troubleshooting and problem-solving skills with the ability to identify abnormal process conditions.
  • Ability to work effectively with engineers, operators, quality personnel, and production supervisors.
  • Willingness to learn new processes, equipment, technologies, and technical procedures.
  • Possess strong teamwork, discipline, reliability, good communication, and safety awareness
Working Conditions
  • This role is 100% onsite working in a manufacturing, engineering, laboratory, and cleanroom environment.
  • Regularly interacts in production areas, laboratories, equipment, process and cross-functional teams.
  • This role is on shifting schedule and will require to support on weekends.
