Job summary

Jacobs in the Philippines seeks a Principal Engineer - Electrical & Controls to lead the design and delivery of Electrical, Instrumentation, Control and Automation systems for complex projects.

You will act as the technical authority, guiding project teams and overseeing power distribution, protection studies, PLC/DCS/SCADA architectures.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering required.
• Experience leading multidisciplinary engineering teams on complex projects.
• Proven design experience in Electrical & Controls (EICA) across complex projects.

Responsibilities

• Lead the design and delivery of EICA systems across complex projects.
• Act as technical authority for electrical and controls engineering.
• Develop and review power distribution, protection studies, instrumentation, PLC/SCADA/DCS designs.
• Ensure designs comply with client requirements, standards, quality and safety.
• Collaborate with global teams to meet objectives, schedules and budgets.
• Support reviews, risk assessments, and value engineering.
• Provide engineering support during procurement, construction, commissioning, and start-up.
• Mentor engineers and promote technical excellence.
• Contribute to proposals and client engagements with technical leadership.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead the design and delivery of Electrical, Instrumentation, Control and Automation (EICA) systems across complex projects.
• Act as the technical authority for electrical and controls engineering, providing guidance and oversight to project teams.
• Develop and review key engineering deliverables, including power distribution systems, protection studies, instrumentation designs, and PLC/SCADA/DCS architectures.
• Ensure designs comply with client requirements, industry standards, quality expectations, and safety regulations.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary and global teams to achieve project objectives, schedules, and budget targets.
• Support technical reviews, risk assessments, value engineering studies, and design optimization initiatives.
• Provide engineering support during procurement, construction, commissioning, and start-up phases.
• Mentor and develop engineers, promoting technical excellence and knowledge sharing across the business.
• Contribute to proposals, bids, and client engagements through technical leadership and innovative solutions.

Here’s what you’ll need

• Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering or a related discipline.
• Experience in Electrical and Controls engineering design as a Senior, Lead or Principal Engineer.
• Proven experience leading multidisciplinary engineering teams on complex projects.
• Strong knowledge of
  • Electrical power distribution systems (MV/LV)
  • Instrumentation and control systems
  • PLC, DCS, and SCADA platforms
  • Protection and coordination studies
  • Industrial automation systems
  • Experience with engineering software such as ETAP, SKM, AutoCAD, MicroStation, and/or Revit.
