Job summary

Jacobs is seeking a Principal Electrical Engineer in the Philippines to lead the design and delivery of power generation projects, including simple cycle and combined cycle plants. The role focuses on advanced power system design, equipment specification and technical governance for large-scale facilities.

You will mentor multidisciplinary teams, deliver key engineering outputs, and ensure compliance with NEC, IEEE, IEC and Philippine standards.

Qualifications

• Bachelor degree in Electrical Engineering or related field.
• Experience leading design of simple cycle and/or combined cycle power projects.
• Experience across concept design, FEED and detailed engineering.
• Knowledge of NEC, IEEE, IEC and Philippine Electrical Code; US codes a plus.
• Ability to lead multidisciplinary teams and coordinate complex deliverables.
• Experience with power system studies using ETAP or SKM.

Responsibilities

• Lead electrical design and delivery of power generation projects (simple and combined cycle).
• Serve as technical authority for power systems and substation design.
• Develop and review electrical specs for switchgear, transformers, generators and MCCs.
• Oversee deliverables like SLDs, protection philosophies, wiring diagrams and layouts.
• Lead power system studies including load flow, short circuit, harmonics and transient analysis.
• Ensure compliance with NEC, IEEE, IEC and local standards.
• Provide technical oversight and QA of electrical deliverables.
• Support client engagement, proposals and project execution.
• Mentor engineers and drive technical excellence across Electrical discipline.

This is a senior technical leadership role where you'll provide engineering expertise, mentor multidisciplinary teams, and drive the successful delivery of major Energy & Power projects across our global portfolio. This role shall focus on advanced power system design, equipment specification, and technical governance for large-scale generation facilities.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead the electrical design and delivery of power generation projects, including simple cycle and combined cycle power plants.


• Act as the technical authority for power systems, electrical equipment, and substation design.


• Develop and review electrical specifications for switchgear, transformers, generators, motor control centers, drives, motors, substations, and cable systems.


• Oversee the preparation of key engineering deliverables such as SLDs, protection philosophies, wiring diagrams, layouts, and design basis reports.


• Lead power system studies including load flow, short circuit, motor starting, harmonic analysis, transient studies, and BESS sizing assessments. [


• Ensure compliance with applicable codes, standards, and client requirements, including NEC, IEEE, IEC, and other international standards.


• Provide technical oversight, quality assurance, and approval of electrical engineering deliverables.


• Support multidisciplinary coordination, client engagement, proposals, and project execution activities.


• Mentor and develop engineers while driving technical excellence and continuous improvement across the Electrical discipline.

Here’s what you’ll need

• Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering, Electrical Power Engineering, or a related discipline.


• Demonstrated experience leading the design of simple cycle and/or combined cycle power generation projects.


• Extensive experience across concept design, FEED, and detailed engineering phases.


• Strong knowledge of NEC, IEEE, IEC, Philippine Electrical Code, and other relevant international standards. Working knowledge of US electrical codes and standards is an advantage.


• Experience performing and reviewing power system studies using ETAP, SKM, or similar software.


• Proven ability to lead multidisciplinary teams and manage complex engineering deliverables.
