I. JOB SUMMARY
The Planogram Officer/Space Planner is responsible for analyzing and optimizing business performance to help achieve company goals such as sales, profit in leading the development, design and assignment of effective planograms through data driven retail visual merchandising resulting to improved sales, better inventory management, and an enhanced customer experience.
II. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Space Planning & Planogram Development
- Design, create, update, and maintain planograms for assigned categories and departments
- Develop shelf layouts that maximize product visibility, sales, and profitability
- Create macro space plans and floor layouts for new stores, renovations, and category resets
- Determine optimal space allocation based on category performance and strategic business objectives
- Manage assortment capacity by balancing SKU productivity and available shelf space
- Ensure planograms align with merchandising standards, category strategies, and brand guidelines
Category & Retail Analytics
- Analyze sales, margin, inventory, and productivity data to determine optimal space allocation
- Evaluate category performance and recommend adjustments to shelf placement and facings
- Conduct productivity analysis by store, category, and SKU
- Identify opportunities to improve category sales through improved merchandising and product positioning
- Monitor effectiveness of planogram changes and provide performance recommendations
Store Layout & Visual Merchandising
- Support the development of store layouts that enhance customer flow and shopping convenience
- Collaborate with merchandising teams in designing fixture placement and display strategies
- Recommend shelf arrangements, category adjacencies, and display standards
- Ensure visual consistency across all store formats
Implementation & Compliance
- Coordinate with Store Operations for proper implementation of approved planograms
- Conduct store audits and compliance checks
- Investigate execution gaps and recommend corrective actions
- Provide implementation guidelines and training support to store teams
Collaboration & Stakeholder Management
- Partner with Buyers and Category Managers on assortment reviews and category planning
- Work with vendors and suppliers to evaluate merchandising opportunities
- Support marketing initiatives through display planning and promotional space allocation
- Participate in category reviews, product launches, and seasonal merchandising projects
Reporting & Continuous Improvement
- Develop dashboards and reports related to planogram effectiveness and space productivity
- Maintain planogram databases and documentation
- Recommend improvements to space planning processes and methodologies
- Support automation and system enhancement initiatives within the Space Planning function
III. QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Marketing, Industrial Engineering, Retail or Operations Management or any related field
- At least 5 years experience overall in Planogram Development, Space Planning, Category Management, Market Research & Retail Analytics, Merchandising and Retail Operations
- At least 5 years experience as Planogram Officer/Space Planner in any retail/supermarket/FMCG industry
- Knowledgeable and has experience in using the space planning applications such as JDA, Nielsen Spaceman and Leafio
- Highly creative, research and data-driven. Keen on market movement, customer engagement and experience, cost leadership efficiency
- Creative and innovative thinker; Possess creativity skills to design planograms
- Has strong analytical skills to interpret data from various sources, such as sales reports, inventory levels, customer surveys, and market research
- Ability to analyze sales merchandising reports and survey results and give recommendations for improvement
- Has excellent communication skills; Have strong leadership skills to manage and motivate the team, as well as to collaborate with other departments and external partners
