About the role
We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Payroll Specialist to manage and process multi-state US payroll accurately and efficiently. The ideal candidate must have a strong background in US payroll administration, labor law compliance, payroll tax regulations, and hands-on experience with Paylocity. This role requires excellent analytical skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment while ensuring payroll accuracy and compliance.
Key responsibilities
- Process accurate and timely payroll for US-based employees using Paylocity.
- Review timesheets, attendance records, wage changes, bonuses, commissions, and deductions prior to payroll processing.
- Ensure payroll is completed in accordance with established deadlines and company policies.
- Maintain compliance with federal, state, and local payroll regulations.
- Monitor and process payroll tax withholdings, filings, and reporting requirements.
- Stay current on changes in payroll legislation and ensure payroll practices remain compliant.
- Respond to employee payroll inquiries regarding pay, deductions, taxes, direct deposits, and benefits.
- Investigate and resolve payroll discrepancies and payment issues promptly.
- Prepare payroll reports for management, finance, and auditing purposes.
- Reconcile payroll data, tax filings, deductions, and benefit contributions.
About you
- Minimum of 2+ years of experience processing US payroll.
- Minimum of 2+ years of hands-on experience using Paylocity.
- Strong knowledge of US payroll laws, wage and hour regulations, and payroll tax requirements.
- Experience processing payroll for multi-state employees.
- Knowledge of payroll deductions, garnishments, benefits administration, and paid time off (PTO) tracking.
- Experience reconciling payroll records and resolving payroll discrepancies.
- Proficient in Microsoft Excel and payroll reporting.
- Strong organizational, analytical, and communication skills.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive employee information.
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field (preferred).
