Job summary

HSBC Holdings plc is seeking an experienced Payroll Lead (AVP) in the Philippines to lead HR operations for payroll, ensuring accurate and timely payments while maintaining compliance with local regulations and internal controls.

The role covers end-to-end payroll management, calendars, cut-offs, validations, reconciliations, and post-payroll activities, with a focus on process automation and continuous improvement.

Qualifications

• Years of experience in payroll and broader Human Resource operations, including leading end-to-end payroll delivery for a large population (ideally 3,000+ employees).
• Years of supervisory and managerial experience, with proven people leadership and performance management capability.
• Payroll experience within a banking or financial services environment is strongly preferred.
• Solid experience in tax annualization, including year-end processing, adjustments, and statutory reporting requirements.
• Strong working knowledge of payroll regulations and statutory requirements, including salaries, taxes, government-mandated benefits, and related reporting.
• Hands-on experience with payroll systems and interfaces, with the ability to troubleshoot data and process issues.
• Proven experience supporting payroll transitions or migrations, including cutover planning, parallel runs, and stabilization.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to identify root causes, assess risk, and implement sustainable fixes.

Responsibilities

• Lead Human Resource Operations for Payroll Administration to ensure employees are paid accurately and on time.
• Ensure payroll delivery complies with local statutory requirements and internal control standards.
• Own end-to-end payroll operations, including payroll calendars, cut-offs, input management, validations, approvals, and reconciliations.
• Oversee post-payroll activities, including exception handling, corrections, and closure activities.
• Own payroll MI and performance management, tracking SLAs, accuracy, timeliness, error rates, and customer experience.
• Lead payroll risk management, audit readiness, and control effectiveness, ensuring issues are identified early and remediated sustainably.
• Manage stakeholder and vendor partnerships across Human Resource, Finance, Tax, Legal, and third-party payroll providers, including escalation management.
• Drive continuous improvement through standardisation, automation, and process redesign, while leading and developing payroll teams.
