Job summary

Johnson & Johnson Innovative Medicine is seeking a Payroll DS Senior Analyst to deliver timely, accurate, and compliant payroll for designated countries/regions. You will act as a subject matter expert on complex payroll processes, ensure adherence to global standards, and drive cross-functional collaboration to improve accuracy and payroll experience.

The role includes continuous improvement, mentoring analysts, supporting audits, and partnering with HR, Finance, IT, and external payroll

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in business, HR, finance, accounting, or related field.
  • Minimum 3–5 years of relevant experience in HR or finance/payroll operations.
  • Proficiency with payroll systems and strong Excel skills.

Responsibilities

  • Process and validate complex payroll transactions for assigned countries/regions.
  • Prepare and review payroll reports and statutory payments.
  • Investigate and resolve payroll issues and inquiries; support escalations.
  • Monitor payroll mailboxes and manage cases through service tools.
  • Build relationships with internal stakeholders and external vendors.
  • Lead/support audits and ensure documentation, SOPs, and data privacy.

ThePayrollDSSeniorAnalystis responsible fordeliveringtimely,accurate, and compliant payrollbybeing a subject matter expert(SME)toassignedcomplex payroll processesfor designated countries/regions, ensuringadherenceto globalstandards,statutory requirements, internal controls, and service-level commitments.The Senior Analystwill drive continuous improvement, mentoranalysts, support auditand system enhancements,andpartner withcrossfunctionalteams to improve accuracy, efficiency, and payroll experience.The Senior Analyst willwork closely with the Payroll Senior Team Lead inplanningand managingoperationaland projectdeliverables.

Key Responsibilities
Payroll Operations & Administration
  • Process andvalidatecomplex payroll transactions, reports, and requestsfor assigned countries/regions,in alignment with global standards and country-specific requirements.
  • Prepare, reconcile, and review payroll reports;validatestatutory payments and third-party disbursementsas applicable.
  • Investigate,resolveand document complex payroll issuesandemployee inquiries. Support escalations and engage with agencies or vendors as needed.
  • Monitorpayroll mailboxes and manage cases and inquiries through service management tools.
  • Buildstrongrelationships with internal stakeholders and external vendors.
Compliance, Controls & Documentation
  • Execute tasks in compliance with SOX requirements, internal controls, audit procedures, and country legislation.
  • Lead/support auditsby supplying requested records and evidencein a timely manner.
  • Ensure regular review andupdateofpayroll documentationincluding SOPs,process guides, workinstructions.
  • Uphold confidentiality and ensure adherence to data privacy regulations.
Continuous Improvement, System Testing, Projects
  • Identifyand leadcontinuous improvement opportunitiesfor process optimization, automation, and standardization.
  • Analyzeimpactofprocess and system changes.Lead/support User Acceptance Testing (UAT) and verification of system changes, releases, and vendor/system upgrades.
  • Collaborate with internalpartners(HR, Finance, IT)andthird-party payroll providers on operational and project-related activities
Leadership & Team Support
  • Mentor and coach Payroll Analysts and junior team members.
  • AssistSenior Team Leadin taskand resourceplanning, project execution, and daily operations.
  • Supportresource onboarding and knowledge transfer activities.
Qualifications
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in business, HR,finance,accounting, or related field
  • Minimum3-5years of relevant experience in HR or finance/payroll operations, preferably in a sharedservices or multinational environment.
  • 1–2 years of leadership, mentoring, or coaching experience.
  • Strongknowledgeand understandingof payroll processing conceptsandstatutory payroll requirements
  • Proficiencywith payroll and HR systems (SAP and/or Workday preferred; ADP and other payroll systemsadvantageous).
  • Proficiencyin Microsoft Excel(pivot tables, lookups, basic macros)and common Microsoft Office tools.Advanced Microsoft Excel skills
  • Experience with case management or ticketing tools.
  • ExcellentEnglish verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong attention to detail, problem-solvingand analytical skills.
  • Ability to prioritize, meet deadlines, and work independently with minimal supervision.
  • High degree of confidentiality andadherence todata privacyand internal controls.
  • Customer-focused with strong stakeholder management skills.
  • Collaborative team player who builds effective working relationships.
  • Adaptable to multiple cultures and cross-functional interactions.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience supportingregionalpayroll processes.
  • Experience with timekeeping systems or case management tools.
  • Payroll certifications
  • Experience working withexternalpayroll providers (e.g., ADP,EY, Deloitte).
  • Familiarity with SOX and business control frameworks, desktop procedures, andknowledge-managementpractices.
  • Prior experience in continuous improvement initiatives, automation tools (e.g., Alteryx), or payroll reporting tools.
