Qualifications

• Associate’s degree or equivalent required.
• 2–7 years medical billing experience in ophthalmology or related settings.
• Experience with healthcare billing platforms preferred.

Responsibilities

• Serve as the primary contact for patient inquiries related to billing, payments, refunds, and account balances.
• Provide accurate and clear explanations of billing statements and account activity.
• Explain patient financial responsibilities including copays, deductibles, and non-covered services.
• Educate patients on insurance benefits and billing processes in a simplified manner.
• Investigate and resolve billing concerns by reviewing claims, payments, and account history.
• Identify discrepancies and escalate complex issues as needed.
• Process payments and ensure accurate documentation of all interactions.
• Assist patients with payment arrangements and available financial assistance programs.
• Maintain accurate patient information including demographics and account details.
• Ensure compliance with HIPAA and applicable healthcare regulations.
• Coordinate with internal teams such as insurance follow-up, coding, collections, and front office.
• Adhere to established workflows, quality standards, and performance metrics.
