Responsibilities

OPERATIONS MANAGER / GENERAL MANAGER

Reports To: President / Managing Director

JOB PURPOSE

Responsible for overseeing the Company's overall logistics and shipping operations, ensuring efficient, timely, cost-effective, and compliant delivery of services while achieving operational and business objectives.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

• Operations Management

• Manage daily logistics, shipping, freight, transportation, and delivery operations.

• Ensure smooth and timely movement of shipments and cargo.

• Monitor operational performance and resolve issues promptly.

• Team Management

• Lead, supervise, and develop the Operations team.

• Assign responsibilities and monitor employee performance and productivity.

• Ensure adequate manpower and proper coordination among departments.

• Shipping & Logistics Coordination

• Coordinate with shipping lines, freight forwarders, trucking companies, warehouses, customs brokers, and other service providers.

• Monitor vessel schedules, shipment status, cargo movement, and delivery requirements.

• Ensure accurate and timely shipping and operational documentation.

• Customer & Vendor Management

• Handle major customer concerns and operational escalations.

• Maintain effective relationships with customers, suppliers, and logistics partners.

• Monitor vendor performance and service quality.

• Cost & Performance Management

• Monitor operational expenses and control unnecessary costs.

• Track key operational KPIs such as on-time delivery, productivity, service quality, and operational efficiency.

• Recommend improvements to increase profitability and efficiency.

• Compliance & Risk Management

• Ensure operations comply with Company policies and applicable laws and regulations.

• Identify and manage operational risks.

• Ensure proper handling of cargo, safety procedures, and incident reporting.

• Management & Business Support

• Prepare operational reports and provide recommendations to Management.

• Support business development and customer proposals from an operational perspective.

• Develop and implement procedures to improve operational efficiency.

GENERAL MANAGER RESPONSIBILITIES

• Oversee overall business operations and departmental performance.

• Implement Company strategies and business objectives.

• Monitor revenue, expenses, profitability, and operational performance.

• Lead department heads and ensure cross-functional coordination.

• Identify business opportunities, risks, and areas for growth.

• Report significant business and operational matters to Senior Management.

QUALIFICATIONS

• Bachelor's degree in Logistics, Supply Chain, Business Administration, Maritime, Transportation, or related field.

• 5+ years relevant experience in logistics, shipping, freight forwarding, or transportation.

• Management or supervisory experience preferred.

• Strong leadership, communication, problem‑solving, negotiation, and decision‑making skills.

• Knowledge of shipping, freight, transportation, customs, and logistics operations is an advantage.
