Job summary

Manulife Financial Corporation is seeking an experienced Operational Risk Manager to lead the core elements of the Operational Risk Management Framework for North America Retirement Operations and collaborate with business leaders to maintain an effective risk environment. You will oversee Risk and Control Self-Assessments, audit engagements, risk incidents, control design and testing, and management reporting.

Hybrid work arrangement in Manila, Philippines, with global teams.

Qualifications

• Five to eight years in operational risk management, controls, audit, or related governance.
• Solid understanding of core insurance operational processes.
• Experience in global/regional roles is advantageous.
• Deep understanding of operational processes, risks, and controls and how weaknesses may affect objectives.
• Ability to conduct deep-dive reviews and implement risk-based solutions with multiple parties.
• Strong analytical and investigative capabilities with attention to detail.
• Strong stakeholder and people management with clear verbal and written communication.
• Resilient, self-driven, and accountable with minimal oversight.
• Ability to distill complex issues into clear reports and practical controls.
• Strong organizational, implementation, time management, and reporting skills.

Responsibilities

• Execute core elements of the Operational Risk Management Framework across assigned operational units and functions.
• Support and complete Risk and Control Self-Assessments (RCSAs).
• Lead business unit audit engagements by coordinating with business leads to document processes, risks, and controls and facilitate timely collection of audit evidence.
• Partner with Operational Leaders to respond to audit findings, develop corrective action plans, and track remediation actions.
• Perform or lead control testing of high-risk processes and report results with recommendations.
• Maintain awareness of risk and control issues and ensure the control inventory remains current.
• Build strong relationships with leaders and present materials for senior audiences.
• Support projects and changes that may affect risk or the control environment.
• Develop and maintain operational risk metrics, dashboards, and management reporting.
