Beacon Solutions, Inc. is seeking a Network & Security Engineer II to design, deploy, administer, and improve our network infrastructure. The role focuses on Layer 2/3 routing, switching, security, and connectivity, while diagnosing issues and monitoring performance to keep services stable.
The candidate will prepare comprehensive documentation covering configurations, policies, and changes, working with multiple IT teams to ensure secure, high-availability networking across the organization.
The Network & Security Engineer II is responsible for the design, deployment, administration, and continuous improvement of network infrastructure. The role primarily handles Layer 2 and Layer 3 networking, routing and switching, network security, and connectivity solutions. The position also involves diagnosing network issues, monitoring infrastructure performance, and coordinating with various IT teams to maintain a stable and secure network environment.
The successful candidate should also be capable of preparing and maintaining comprehensive and up-to-date technical documentation covering network configurations, security policies, and infrastructure changes.
Design and develop network infrastructure solutions involving Layer 2 and Layer 3 technologies.
Configure, deploy, and commission routers, switches, firewalls, and other network equipment.
Perform network troubleshooting and root-cause analysis to resolve connectivity, performance, and availability issues.
Monitor network health, traffic, bandwidth consumption, latency, and overall infrastructure performance.
Identify network bottlenecks and implement appropriate improvements to optimize resource utilization and system efficiency.
Apply network security controls and best practices to protect infrastructure against potential threats and vulnerabilities.
Configure and maintain firewalls, VPN connections, SD-WAN solutions, and other network security technologies.
Monitor security-related events and network activities for unusual or potentially malicious behavior.
Maintain accurate and detailed records of network topology, device configurations, firewall rules, policies, and infrastructure changes.
Evaluate emerging networking and security technologies that may improve infrastructure reliability, performance, and protection.
Coordinate with systems, cybersecurity, technical support, and other IT teams to ensure proper integration and resolution of network-related concerns.
Assist in maintaining high availability, reliability, and operational efficiency across the organization's network environment.
Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field.
At least 2–3 years of practical experience in network engineering, IT infrastructure, or a similar technical role.
Solid understanding of fundamental networking concepts and protocols, including TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, and related technologies.
Hands-on knowledge of routing technologies and protocols such as BGP, OSPF, EIGRP, and MPLS.
Strong understanding of switching technologies, including VLANs, Spanning Tree Protocol, and network device configuration.
Working knowledge of firewall administration, VPN technologies, SD-WAN, and network security protocols.
Experience with or familiarity with enterprise security platforms such as Fortinet, Palo Alto, and Check Point is an advantage.
Familiarity with network monitoring, diagnostic, and management tools such as SolarWinds, PRTG, Wireshark, FortiSIEM, Meraki Dashboard, or Datadog.
Ability to analyze network problems, perform technical troubleshooting, and implement appropriate solutions.
Strong documentation skills, with the ability to produce clear and detailed technical network documentation.
Relevant certifications such as CCNA, Fortinet certifications, HCNA, or equivalent networking credentials are preferred.
