Job description

On-Target Earnings: PHP 200,000+ / month

Lead the rollout that takes the price of power down

Electricity in the Philippines costs more than it should. Not because generation is scarce, but because most corporate buyers have no way to see the market properly, no way to buy against it with discipline, and no way to hold a contract to account once it's signed. They pay for that gap every month.

We close it — with procurement expertise, and with technology we built ourselves to make that expertise work at scale.

AECO Energy has spent since 2009 building the buying discipline, the market expertise and the technology that let enterprises pay less for power and actually meet the carbon commitments their boards have already announced. In the Philippines we're past proving it. Manufacturers, hospitals, schools, cement, poultry, industrial parks — signed customers, measurable savings, referenceable names.

Now we want the market. We're looking for the leader who takes it.

The job, plainly

Take a sales team of 5 to 20 in twelve months. Take the Philippines.

You inherit five good people, a sales model proven across our Australian and Singaporean businesses, a live customer base, and a technology stack coming out of our own engineering teams. What we need is the commercial leader who turns that into a national operation.

If that reads as a reason to take the job rather than a reason to hesitate, keep reading.

Procurement services and solutions, with real technology behind them

Most energy sales roles put you in front of a customer with a spreadsheet and a margin. This one doesn't.

What we sell is procurement expertise: knowing when to buy, how to structure a tender, how to hold a supplier to the contract they signed, how to build a portfolio that survives a volatile market. That's the value. Customers pay us because their bills fall and stay down.

What makes it work at scale is our own technology. Procurement and portfolio management tools, competitive tender and auction platforms, contract administration built specifically for the Philippine contestable market. Patent-pending, built in-house, rolling out now. It's the reason our advice is evidenced rather than asserted, the reason we can run a tender properly rather than making calls, and the reason a customer relationship deepens instead of ending once the first saving is banked.

For you that means selling substance. You'll walk into a CFO's office with analysis behind you and a system that proves the outcome afterwards — in a market where most competitors still sell a relationship and a phone call.

What you'll own

The market

  • Set the Philippine commercial plan with the General Manager, and answer for delivering it

  • Decide where we compete: which segments, which industries, which cities. And where we don't

  • Change that plan when the market tells you to. We'd rather move than defend last quarter's thinking

  • Feed the market back into the business — pricing, positioning, product priorities, competitor movement

  • Be the senior commercial face of AECO in the country

The number

  • Own the national target and lead the team past it

  • Close high-value deals with facility managers, energy directors, CFOs and CEOs

  • Build and run an enterprise pipeline on 3–9 month cycles

  • Build account strategies for the customers worth winning twice

The solutions

  • Sell procurement strategy, tenders and portfolio management as the core offer, with our technology as the proof and the engine

  • Take new tools to market as they roll out, and build the story that turns a first saving into a long-term relationship

  • Work directly with product and engineering on what Philippine customers actually need next

The team

  • Hire around fifteen salespeople in twelve months without dropping the bar once

  • Build the onboarding, coaching and territory structure that makes twenty people one operation instead of twenty freelancers

  • Grow your first hires into team leads. Nobody manages twenty people directly and does it well

  • Coach consultative selling. We diagnose before we propose

  • Set a standard of accountability and forecasting honesty that survives the growth

The brand

  • Run B2B campaigns aimed squarely at corporate energy decision-makers

  • Turn real savings into case studies that sell for you

  • Own the local digital presence — LinkedIn, webinars, industry events

  • Build AECO's name in the Philippines within our global brand direction

How we work

The Philippine energy market is still evolving. Rules change, the contestable market keeps opening, customers keep asking for things nobody offered them last year. We treat that as the opportunity rather than the risk.

We are a market-driven business, and we mean it operationally. If customers want the value delivered a different way, we build it that way. If a segment opens faster than we predicted, we move resources into it. Decisions here get made in days, not through three months of committee. We are founder-led and deliberately unbureaucratic, and we've backed every product we've built with our own money rather than someone else's mandate.

For you, that means real latitude. You won't be told to run a playbook you can't change. Bring us evidence from the market and you'll be able to act on it — including when it means changing what we sell, who we sell it to, or how we price it.

The trade is that you need to be comfortable without a fixed script. If you want a fully defined territory plan handed to you on day one, this will frustrate you. If you've been waiting for a role where your read of the market actually changes what the company does, this is that role.

You

  • 8+ years in B2B enterprise sales, including at least 3 leading a team

  • You've scaled a team through fast growth. You've hired at volume, and you know exactly what breaks when a team doubles

  • A record of hitting revenue targets you can walk through deal by deal

  • Comfortable in long, multi-stakeholder cycles and complex negotiations

  • Pipeline discipline: accurate forecasts, honest deal tracking, no happy ears

  • CRM fluency and working knowledge of digital marketing

  • Energy, procurement or B2B solution-selling experience is a strong advantage. If you've sold technology-backed services to enterprise buyers, you'll recognise this immediately

  • Adaptable by instinct — you've worked somewhere the plan changed mid-year and you saw it as an opening rather than a grievance

You'll thrive here if you measure yourself in closed deals, you attract good people, and you'd rather build a market than inherit one.

The career case

Timing. Rising costs, tightening carbon rules and board-level commitments have landed at the same moment, and the Philippine contestable market is still opening up. Budget and urgency exist right now. Markets don't stay this open for long.

Scale, not startup. Working team, proven model, existing customers, and a mandate to make all of it four times bigger inside a year. Culture, hiring, territory design and positioning are yours to shape.

Technology behind you. You won't be improvising differentiation. Your advice is backed by systems your own company built, with the roadmap open to your influence.

A step up that's visible. Deliver this and you've built and led a national business through its steepest growth phase, in a market that will matter for the next decade. That's not a line on a CV. That's the thing that decides your next three roles.

Work that counts. Every deal you close takes cost and carbon out of a Philippine business, and pushes the whole market toward pricing that reflects reality. You're not adjacent to the energy transition. You're selling it.
