Job summary

VA Platinum is seeking a Mechanical Plumbing Cost Estimator to support an Australian construction team with estimating, procurement, and project coordination. You will prepare accurate cost estimates, review project documentation, and coordinate supplier pricing for mechanical plumbing and HVAC projects.

The ideal candidate has strong estimation background, excellent Excel skills, and the ability to read complex drawings.

Qualifications

• Solid experience in mechanical plumbing estimating and coordination.
• Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel and spreadsheet-based estimating.
• Ability to read and interpret construction drawings, specifications, and technical documentation.
• Experience preparing Bills of Quantities (BOQs), quantity take-offs, and cost build-ups.

Responsibilities

• Prepare accurate quantity take-offs, BOQs, and cost estimates for mechanical plumbing and HVAC projects.
• Review construction drawings, specifications, and tender documentation to identify project requirements.
• Prepare detailed cost build-ups and pricing schedules.
• Source and compare supplier and subcontractor quotations.
• Support procurement and purchasing activities throughout the estimating process.
• Maintain estimating records, pricing databases, and supplier information.
• Identify pricing gaps, risks, and value engineering opportunities.
• Collaborate with project teams to ensure estimates are accurate, competitive, and delivered on time.
• Communicate with suppliers, subcontractors, and internal stakeholders to obtain project information and pricing.
• Contribute to continuous improvement of estimating processes, templates, and documentation.
